    England suffered their first World Cup penalty shootout defeat in the 1990 semi-final.

    Current manager Gareth Southgate then missed the decisive penalty in England's semi-final shootout defeat at Euro '96.

    Three Lions was the anthem of that tournament and having become a huge terrace chant once more this summer, Southgate tells the i he can finally listen to it.
