The most dramatic Europa League first-leg tie arguably involved Diego Maradona's side.

Maradona - who won the Uefa Cup in 1989 with Napoli - is chairman of Belarusian side Dinamo Brest, who edged Atromitos Athens 4-3.

    It's 0-0 at half-time tonight.

We don't actually know whether he's at the game in Greece.

Rangers v NK Osijek (Agg: 1-0, 19:45 BST)

Steven Gerrard is paying no heed to backbiting from Osijek.

Osijek's Robert Mudrazija claimed his side were "better, stronger, more skilful and better organised" despite losing the first leg 1-0.

Midfielder Mudrazija was also quoted calling Rangers boss Gerrard a "tiny man" after the Europa League qualifier.

"The opposition are very confident," said Gerrard.

"I don't think they have had many positive words to say about us. Do their comments give us extra motivation? Not really. My job is to prepare my team and my players.

"We will always be respectful to opponents, both individually and collectively, here at Rangers. We can't control what comes out of opposition camps."

First chance for Hibs, after a beautiful lofted chip in behind the Asteras defence from Vykintas Slivka. Martin Boyle can't quite control the bouncing ball, which is deflected out for a corner and ultimately cleared.

Attendances are on the rise. Intrigue is on the up, particularly since the arrival of Steven Gerrard at Rangers, a story that reverberated around European and, perhaps, world football. Gerrard, Brendan Rodgers, Derek McInnes, Neil Lennon, Steve Clarke, Craig Levein - that's a compelling cast of managerial characters at the top end of the Premiership.

Scottish football is not monied and it's not glamorous, but in terms of stories and passion it could go toe-to-toe with any league in any country anywhere in the world.

    Media caption,

Neil Lennon hasn't held back when celebrating this season.

It's the passion, the all-encompassing obsession, that's addictive. If you were reared on the game here then it's in you and it's never coming out. If you weren't, but live here for long enough, you find yourself sucked into the vortex. And it's terrific in that vortex. Not everybody gets it, but who cares?

Managers have to plan ahead. As a Premier League club Burnley should have enough players. If they get to the group stages they can play some reserves.

I don't think it would be a blessing in disguise if they go out. Because it would be great for up and coming players to get the experience behind them.

If you're a neutral - there aren't many around here tonight - it would be much more edgy if Aberdeen had not conceded late on at home. But remember Burnley don't score many goals.

If Aberdeen can get a goal, this could be very tight. But Burnley are 100% favourites. Huge favourites? No. Big favourites? Yes.

Asteras Tripolis 0-0 Hibernian (Agg: 2-3)

It's all Asteras in the opening 10 minutes or so, and Hibs captain David Gray has had to be alert to thwart several dangerous ball into the box.

The right-back missed almost all of last season through injury but his positional sense and leadership could be pivotal tonight.

There's more good news for 18-year-old Rangers winger Glenn Middleton, who was a late substitute in the first leg, as he is again named on the bench.

Middleton joined the Glasgow club's development squad from Norwich City in January but earlier today was promoted to Steven Gerrard's first-team squad for the coming season.

Joining him on the bench are Jak Alnwick, Andy Halliday, Scott Arfield, Josh Windass, Jamie Murphy and Umar Sadiq.

There are some big sides in action tonight - but not many in real danger of elimination.

RB Leipzig beat Hacken 4-0 in the first leg and Massimo Bruno has put them 5-0 up on aggregate.

Besiktas beat B36 Torshavn 2-0 last week and Sevilla beat Ujpest 4-0 at home.

Serie A side Atalanta need to score in Bosnia are drawing 2-2 in their first leg with FK Sarajevo.

Bordeaux have a 1-0 advantage over Ventspils going into their home leg.

Latvian side Spartaks Jurmala are the most comfortable team in today's games, having beaten La Fiorita of San Marino - who have scored one European goal ever - 6-0 last week.

Around 800-1,000 Hibernian fans have made their way from Edinburgh to Tripoli. The horrendous thunderstorm and torrential rain from earlier has abated and it’s not quite the “welcome to hell” atmosphere that Hibs were warned they'd face. The stadium is roughly half-full with a crowd in the region of 3,500 in attendance.

Here's the Theodoros Kolokotronis Stadium, where Hibs are playing tonight - I can't say it looks particularly hospitable.

Asteras went five years without losing at home between 2001 and 2006, and were pretty unforgiving hosts last season too, suffering just four defeats from 17 matches.

Manager Steven Gerrard is "in a rush" to add more new faces before Rangers open their Premiership campaign at Aberdeen on Sunday.

"We need a centre-back," he said after a deal for Manchester City's Kean Bryan fell through.

"We have loads of targets that we have been monitoring," said Gerrard, who has already signed 10 players.

"Unfortunately, we couldn't get an agreement with Kean. He wants to keep his options open and we respect that.

"You can see quite clearly that we need a centre-back so that is definitely an area that we are trying to add in. Hopefully it will be sooner rather than later."
