  1. Can the Clarets keep up?published at 18:56 British Summer Time 2 August 2018

    Burnley v Aberdeen (Agg: 1-1, 19:45 BST)

The disparity between the resources available to these two sides was a big talking point before the first leg but Burnley manager Sean Dyche says the club must spend in the transfer market just to "keep up" with other Premier League sides.

The Clarets finished seventh and qualified for the Europa League last season but Dyche has so far been unable to add to his squad this summer.

"The challenge is opening the club's mind enough keep up. The market will outrun you at some point," he said.

"Stretch and not break, that's the idea. It's not easy.

"We have a business model, but it makes it very tough. The chairman wants to back the club but can only back it to a certain level unless it rips up the whole structure of the club.

"I understand it. But my football head says 'give me the money and I'll go and spend it'."

  3. More Greek adventures for Hibspublished at 18:54 British Summer Time 2 August 2018

Asteras Tripolis v Hibernian (Agg: 2-3; 19:00 BST)

Hibernian last faced Greek opposition in Europe way back in 2001, when they took on AEK Athens.

Coached at the time by current Scotland manager Alex McLeish, they lost 2-0 in Greece, before an enthralling second leg at Easter Road.

Paco Luna scored twice to level the tie, and almost headed home a winner with the final touch of the ball.

Back came AEK, though, bagging two extra-time goals as the second leg ended 3-2 in Hibs' favour.

Crusaders v Olimpija Ljubljana (Agg: 1-5, 20:00 BST)

Crusaders face an uphill struggle to overcome a 5-1 deficit in their Europa League second qualifying round tie against Olimpija Ljubljana.

Despite the scale of their defeat in Slovenia last week, Crusaders manager Stephen Baxter hopes to build on his side's encouraging first-leg display.

He said: "They're a very good team but we're looking for a Crusaders European performance that brings a bit of buzz.

"If you get an early goal, or a couple, you just never know."

Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes says Scott McKenna is "too good" for the Championship after confirming that Swansea City have made an enquiry for the centre-back, who starts tonight.

McInnes does not expect the Welsh club to make a bid for the 21-year-old.

The Pittodrie manager said that, while Swansea had been in touch, no official approach had been made.

"For me, Scott will go straight to the Premier League, in time. He will by-pass the Championship," McInnes said.

Speaking before tonight's Europa League second-leg qualifier at Burnley, McInnes said he "does not expect" the Welsh club to make a formal bid.

He added: "If they do then it's not something we would be encouraging. I'm not saying he's not for sale, but any offer will need to be way over the top.

"It is not a matter of if Scott McKenna leaves Aberdeen, it is when, and obviously I would rather that be further down the line."

Asteras Tripolis v Hibernian (Agg 2-3, 19:00 BST)

    Neil LennonImage source, PA

Neil Lennon has urged his Hibernian side to be "more aggressive".

Hibs fought back from 2-0 down at Easter Road to lead the second-round tie 3-2 before Thursday's decisive match in Greece.

The victors face Norway's Molde in the next round.

"You can see how much it meant to the players to drag themselves back into the tie," Lennon said.

"It is still very much in the balance. The way the team is set up is to attack and score goals.

"We are mindful that the game can change very quickly but I think it's important that we score."
