It's become a bit scrappy in the last few minutes.

The atmosphere has also gone a bit flat.

Come on lads, we could do with a goal!

    FT: West Brom 7-1 QPR

The big story of the day is QPR falling to a 7-1 defeat at West Brom.

It was 1-1 at half-time but the Baggies scored six second-half goals, including three in the last 10 minutes, to leave Rangers boss Steve McClaren red-faced.

Read the report on the action as the R's slip to the foot of the Championship.

QPR manager Steve McClaren says his side's performance in their 7-1 loss at West Bromwich Albion was "unacceptable".

    Preston 0-0 Stoke

And now Preston are inches away from taking the lead!

Graham Burke whips in a cross and Callum Robinson tries to place a header into the opposite corner from a few yards out. It trickles wide.

It's been an entertaining opening to this game.

He hasn't played that many games for various reasons, but you can't ignore the fact that Saido Berahino's last goal was in February 2016 for West Brom.

The 25-year-old came so, so close to opening his account for Stoke there, but it was not to be.

  6. CLOSE!published at 7 mins

    Preston 0-0 Stoke

Oh, what a chance for Saido Berahino!

The Stoke forward meets James McClean's brilliant cross, but his powerful header is straight at Declan Rudd.

It's still a marvellous save from the Preston stopper.

Alex Neil is barking orders on the Preston touchline, as is his opposite number Gary Rowett.

There's always plenty of passion from these two young bosses.

    Preston 0-0 Stoke

Desperate defending from Preston, but they manage to clear.

An off-balance Benik Afobe somehow manages to squeeze his way into the box, his shot is blocked, as is Stoke team-mate Saido Berahino's follow up.

    Preston 0-0 Stoke

Preston create the first chance as Lukas Nmecha gets on the end of Callum Robinson's cross, but it's a weak header from the teenage forward.

Easy claim for England and Stoke keeper Jack Butland.

It's a terrific atmosphere with both sets of fans making plenty of noise.

I'd expect a fast and frantic start in this one.

Stoke City have taken one point from their opening two games of the campaign following relegation from the Premier League last season.

Defeat at Leeds on the opening weekend was followed up by a draw at home to Brentford last Saturday.

The Potters did not have the distraction of the League Cup in midweek after getting a bye through to the second round, so Gary Rowett is still looking for his first win since taking charge.

But at least new signing Benik Afobe is fit and firing, netting in his first two outings since his switch from Wolves.

Hosts Preston have one win from two in the league, beating QPR and then losing at Swansea.

This is the first meeting between the clubs since February 2008, when Preston won 2-0 courtesy of a double from Richard Chaplow.

Thanks fellas, fine work this afternoon.

I'm on a bit of a buzz after following the West Brom game. It was a crazy second half at the Hawthorns.

    QPR were terrible.

Anyway, it should be a gooden at Deepdale. And after an angry tweet earlier I promise not to underestimate Preston!

    FT: Bristol City 0-2 Middlesbrough

    Championship top six

I'm not a huge fan of looking at tables this early in the season, but Middlesbrough remain top of the Championship having played a game more than most other teams.

Leeds are second with the only 100% winning record in the division.

West Brom are up to third after that 7-1 thrashing of QPR.

Rangers are rock bottom with a goal difference of -8, and the west Londoners and Reading are the only two sides yet to pick up a point in the second tier.

Grecians go top of the table

Exeter City moved top of League Two despite being pegged back by Newport County in a 1-1 draw.

Draws for Lincoln and MK Dons mean there are no clubs with 100% starts in the fourth tier.

Meanwhile, Swindon Town came from 2-0 down to beat 10-man Tranmere Rovers 3-2.

Cheltenham, Macclesfield and Morecambe remain without a point.

    • Grimsby 1-1 Lincoln
    • Bury 1-1 Forest Green
    • Cheltenham 0-1 Carlisle
    • Crewe 0-0 MK Dons
