Callum Hudson-Odoi has started well but can he take Kyle Walker on and really show how good he is? It's great to see young players getting a chance at clubs of this stature. The English game needs it.

You can press for so long, but if you do it you really have to go for it when you do.

You can't do it all game and it really does sap your energy - especially in the heat today.

Phil Foden was sent on by Pep Guardiola on the final day of last season at Southampton so he could make his fifth appearance and earn a title winning medal. You have to keep reminding yourself he is only 18. He's playing as though he has been part of this team for years.

Seamus: Only surprise about that goal was it took 13 minutes to score - Chelsea look half asleep or, like we used to be on Sunday mornings, playing with a hangover!

Ash Williams: Far too easy for City. Chelsea backed off. The midfielders jogged back.

No surprise that City have struck first. This might be a glorified friendly but they're livelier, brighter and more hungry.

I can't believe how easy that was for Man City. How deep are the Chelsea back four? They allowed Sergio Aguero too much room but that shouldn't take away from the finish.

    Sergio Aguero

The champions are up and running!

Brilliant by Phil Foden who is allowed to advance to the edge of Chelsea's penalty area unchallenged before a nice lay-off to Sergio Aguero to thump it past Willy Caballero.

    Poor defending by the Blues.

I like the look of Ross Barkley at the moment. He's trying to dictate the play and create the spaces for Chelsea to play in.

He has lots of talent, he just needs game time and for somebody to trust in him - to tell him to go out and just play.

Brilliant positional play by Fernandinho. How many times have we seen him break up opposition counter attacks? He does it brilliantly.

Three shots by City inside the opening 10 minutes but Willy Caballero has yet to be seriously tested. Sergio Aguero is in a great position but harmlessly drags a shot across the six-yard area.

Last season's PFA Young Player of the Year Leroy Sane was omitted from Germany's World Cup squad as the defending champions crashed out of Russia 2018 at the group stage. Leaving the 22-year-old behind is something Dion Dublin still can't understand...

You could give me 25 years of thinking and I'd still have no idea why.

He's possibly one of the best left-sided players we've seen in the Premier League and he wasn't picked for his national team. A big mistake.

Early glimpse of Callum Hudson-Odoi's blistering pace. The 17-year-old is steaming forward before Fernandinho puts a stop to the move. No serious chances by either side yet.

An early rendition of "stand up for the champions" echoes out of the Manchester City end of Wembley. It's fair to say that the stadium is nowhere near a full-house today - a swathe of empty seats in the upper tier of the City end is the most obvious example of that, but the pockets of red among the Chelsea supporters clearly show they did not sell out their allocation either.
