I'm interested to see how Chelsea cope with Manchester City and their movement. You just feel the champions can pull teams apart at times.

Man City played football we haven't seen before in the Premier League. When you're champions you're there to be knocked down - can the manager keep them motivated and hungry?

For Sarri, it's about achieving harmony. Can he get Chelsea working together again?

Note to Wembley Stadium - no need to turn the afterburners on to welcome the players out when it is already so scorching hot in here... maybe turn the sprinklers on instead?

We've just seen a couple of giant jigsaws put together on the Wembley pitch, made up of pictures of each team's players and in the shape of the trophy they won last season that got them here.

I can report that Chelsea's 'FA Cup' puzzle was put together a fair bit quicker than the City 'Premier League' one - new Blues boss Maurizio Sarri will no doubt hope that he can build a successful team at a similar rate.

Shaun Goater here, wearing the expression of a man who was walking through a building site when a sweaty journalist jumped out on him and demanded a prediction for today's game.

The Manchester City legend is an affable gent, however, and he duly obliged.

"It is a difficult one to call because we don’t know how Chelsea will play or what sort of team they will put out, and it is the same with the City side," the BBC Radio Manchester pundit explained.

"But I would anticipate City getting a win just because of Pep Guardiola and his tactics - so I think they will edge a close game, 2-1."

Is he looking forward to the new season too?

"Oh I am, I am, absolutely. Certainly with a couple of new managers coming into the Premier League and also to see how Riyad Mahrez does with City, I think he is a superb player and I expect him to continue the great form he showed at Leicester."

  15. City victorious in last Shield clashpublished at 14:47 British Summer Time 5 August 2018

Chelsea v Man City (15:00 BST)

Today's showdown is a repeat of the 2012 Community Shield, held at Villa Park on that occasion due to a clash with the 2012 Olympic football final.

Three goals in 12 second half minutes from Yaya Toure, Carlos Tevez and Samir Nasri gave Roberto Mancini's City a 3-2 victory over Roberto Di Matteo's Chelsea, who had gone ahead through Fernando Torres moments before a Branislav Ivanovic red card reduced them to 10-men.

Ryan Bertrand scored for the FA Cup and Champions League winners with 10 minutes remaining to give Chelsea hope, but reigning Premier League champions City held on for their first Community Shield victory since 1972.

Talking of penalties, you've got to fancy Chelsea if it goes all the way. They've had plenty of practice with their past two friendlies decided by shootouts.

  17. 'ABBA' at Wembleypublished at 14:44 British Summer Time 5 August 2018

Chelsea v Man City (15:00 BST)

If this finishes in a draw after 90 minutes, "ABBA" will be making an appearance.

Don't worry it's got nothing to do with Mamma Mia 2.

As the current penalty shootout system stands, teams take turns in a shootout, with the choice of who goes first decided by a coin toss.

For example, team A goes first, then team B, then team A again.

The "ABBA" format for penalty shootouts sees team A followed by team B - before team B goes again. Team A would then get two successive penalties, a little like the tie-break in tennis, and so on until there is a winner.

A coin will still be tossed to decide who goes first.

  19. Jorginho 'ecstatic' to be at Chelseapublished at 14:41 British Summer Time 5 August 2018

Chelsea v Man City (15:00 BST)

    Chelsea

Pep Guardiola's Manchester City narrowly lost out in the battle to lure Jorginho from Napoli this summer, with the 26-year-old Italy international eventually joining up with former boss Maurizio Sarri at Stamford Bridge.

Jorginho, full name Jorge Luiz Frello Filho, cost then-Napoli boss Rafael Benitez £9m in 2014 after the midfielder impressed while playing for Verona. By 2018, his cost to the Blues is around £57m.

Regardless, Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia described Jorginho as "one of the most coveted midfielders in Europe" - and convincing him to join Sarri's side, instead of Guardiola's, will be viewed as a real coup.

"I am absolutely ecstatic to be here at Chelsea," said Jorginho on his arrival.

"I am excited to play in such an intense league for a team that gives everything to play and win."

Not a cloud in sight above Wembley, and the sky is definitely a Manchester City shade of blue today.

With a backdrop like that, Paul and his son Ryan could not resist another iconic selfie on the steps of Wembley Park tube station, even though they have been here many times before supporting club and country.

Their mood is as sunny* as the weather, too, as yours would be if your team had won the title by 19 points last time out.

"It is going to be tough to follow that, but I am confident," Paul said. "We have got Pep Guardiola in charge and he is the main man, isn't he?

"I think we will do well today, win 2-1, and make a good start to the season."

*Ryan is predicting a 1-1 draw with Chelsea winning on penalties. As his dad put it: "kids, eh?"
