    Man Utd 1-0 Leicester

Exciting again from Demarai Gray, very calmly dealt with by Eric Bailly though. Leicester will be delighted with this performance - apart from the fact that they are losing.

  2. Postpublished at 32 mins

    Man Utd 1-0 Leicester

James Maddison pings the free-kick into the wall. That was an awfully long way out.

    Man Utd 1-0 Leicester

This is a proper game of football. United can break from another Leicester corner but Demarai Gray - who has been brilliant so far - makes a sliding tackle.

At the other end Paul Pogba then fouls James Maddison. Free-kick...

It's a world-class save. The shot comes in form 10 yards, in full force, but David De Gea puts his arm out and forces it away from danger.

  5. GREAT SAVE!published at 28 mins

    Man Utd 1-0 Leicester

James Maddison is going to get assists in the top flight, no doubt. He's very close to a lovely ball through. Oh and he nearly scores!

What a save by David de Gea, Maddison turns and shoots from no more than 10 yards out, it would beat most keepers but De Gea is not most keepers and makes a flying one-handed save!

From the corner another effort comes in and is deflected over. Leicester tails are up!

Sounds like Pogba is trying to pack a whole season's activity in before Christmas! Wonder what he's plotting for January?

Gareth Southgate and Roberto Martinez are together in the stands, reminisicing about the semi-finals no doubt.

  8. Postpublished at 27 mins

    Man Utd 1-0 Leicester

Ah it's really good football from Leicester as James Maddison pops a smart ball into the area, it's laid off first time into Ben Chilwell and his cross is just about cleared.

The corner comes in but Marcus Rashford clears well this time.

  9. 'Playing the Man United way'published at 20:25 British Summer Time 10 August 2018

    Man Utd 1-0 Leicester

The response by the fans is down to how their players have started this game. They have shown a bit of spark and played the Man United way, and it's good to see.

Unorthodox from Eric Bailly, reaching to meet a cross with a very high boot and clearing with his studs from in front of Kelechi Iheanacho. I recall Bailly scoring an own goal last season after getting in a weird starting position and that was similar.

  11. 'Just like Leicester, this city is blue'published at 20:23 British Summer Time 10 August 2018

    Man Utd 1-0 Leicester

Leicester's good spell has got their fans making some noise - although the United faithful won't like it.

"Just like Leicester, this city is blue," sing the Foxes fans, who have also been chanting about how they have won the league more recently than United.

The Premier League is well and truly back. It's end to end, littered with errors and touches of quality in equal measure. The crowd is up, the game is bouncing along. Lovely.

    Man Utd 1-0 Leicester

That must have been the shortest warm up ever for Romelu Lukaku just then.

As Marcus Rashford was receiving treatment Jose Mourinho signalled for the Belgian striker to get off the bench.

Lukaku just about managed to get his orange training bib on as he ran down the touchline, before the signal went out for him to come straight back in again.

Well played Marcus Rashford! Daniel Amartey has the ball in the right-back spot for Leicester but has his pocket well and truly picked by the alert Rashford, but he can't find a team-mate in the middle. That move, United's first for a while, was started by Juan Mata switching it really nicely from right to left.

There's a cracking tempo to the game.

Alex: Don't get it twisted. Man U might have been gifted a pen and look dangerous on the counter in a headless chicken way, but Leicester are dominating this game. United getting hammered from the left. New season. Same story.

John: And now Leicester are playing better football then us, are a better team, and if we win it will be a miracle

Jeremiah: Leicester now controlling the game! Looks like the Red Devils have given all the space to the Foxes. May be not too long before it is all square here

We may have started the night by joking that Jose Mourinho doesn't seem to be enjoying his work too much at the moment but I can tell you for an absolute fact that there is not a man alive who enjoys his job more than our own Dion Dublin.

He cheered me up daily during the World Cup and he's doing so again. He just loves it. Press play for some free therapy.

  17. 'Brilliant start to the season'published at 20:18 British Summer Time 10 August 2018

    Man Utd 1-0 Leicester

    Dion Dublin

There is not a spare red seat in the stadium. Leicester must have sold out the away end in their blue shirts as well. Old Trafford is jam packed. What a brilliant start to the season.

  18. Postpublished at 17 mins

    Man Utd 1-0 Leicester

Claude Puel must be happy with this spell from Leicester. They look a real threat, although just as I say that James Maddison loses the ball in a dangerous area.

Still, 66% of the ball so far for the visitors, who trail to that early penalty.

  19. Postpublished at 16 mins

    Man Utd 1-0 Leicester

Kelechi Iheanacho looked level to me on that replay. But much better from Leicester. Last year they opened the season on a Friday night and it ended up a 4-3 thriller.

    Same again? Yes please.

  20. CLOSE!published at 15 mins

    Man Utd 1-0 Leicester

It's good from Demarai Gray again, he's got the beating of Matteo Darmian, skins him easily and puts a cross in. Half cleared, the shot comes back in but it's tame and easy for David de Gea.

Ben Chilwell then bursts forwards again, Kelechi Iheanacho rolls his man and shoots...wide!

Oooh that was close! The flag was raised.
