  1. DISALLOWED GOALpublished at 20 mins

    Manchester United 0-0 Liverpool

What a goal that would have been.

Alexis Sanchez gets his head up and, with minimal backlift, whips a delicious cross-field ball in behind Alberto Moreno for Juan Mata.

The Spaniard controls with one touch and dispatches a shot past Kamil Grabara with his second.

But the offside flag is up to ruin the scene for the Manchester United fans in the house.

The replay, from a shonky angle, is not conclusive, but suggest it was the correct call.

  2. Postpublished at 15 mins

    Manchester United 0-0 Liverpool

With Alisson Becker on board, suddenly the whole Liverpool goalkeeper staff fancy themselves as jogo bonitio merchants.

Kamil Grabara, 19, on his first-team debut, collects a backpass with Alexis Sanchez bearing down on him.

No problem. The Pole drops a shoulder one way, goes the other and saunters upfield like it ain't no thing.

  3. Postpublished at 13 mins

    Manchester United 0-0 Liverpool

    More nice stuff from Liverpool.

Sadio Mane, who has looked in the mood after inheriting Philippe Coutinho's number 10 shirt, gives, goes and darts into the box.

His cross is accurate, but a stooping Mohamed Salah cannot generate the power to really test Lee Grant.

  4. Postpublished at 9 mins

    Manchester United 0-0 Liverpool

Manchester United swaying on the ropes, but somehow survive unbreached.

First Lee Grant reacts well in goal to tip Mohamed Salah's clever header over the top as the Egyptian flicks on Sadio Mane's lofted through-ball.

From the resulting corner, United hack clear off the line as Virgil van Dijk wins a header.

  5. Postpublished at 6 mins

    Manchester United 0-0 Liverpool

Liverpool definitely on top in the early exchanges.

A quick throw-in from Rafael Camacho exposes some snoozy United defending, James Milner cuts the ball back and Dominic Solanke attempts to poke in from close range with a cheeky backheel.

Eric Bailly is there to block.

  6. Postpublished at 5 mins

    Manchester United 0-0 Liverpool

Mo Salah doing what Mo Salah does.

The Egyptian runs a clever angle in behind the Manchester United defence, aiming to exploit a hole left by Demetri Mitchell.

James Milner's pass is a touch overcooked though.

  7. Postpublished at 3 mins

    Manchester United 0-0 Liverpool

    Hello.

Did someone order the side plate of spice?

James Milner and Andreas Pereira come crunching together, a tangle of limbs, a little bit of push and shove after.

Just what every pre-season friendly needs.

  8. Postpublished at 1 min

    Manchester United 0-0 Liverpool

Liverpool are enjoying most of the early possession, knocking it about at the back.

  9. KICK-OFFpublished at 22:06 British Summer Time 28 July 2018

    Manchester United 0-0 Liverpool

Well, Manchester United are the designated home side, but that doesn't stop the Michigan Stadium tannoy man from dropping the needle on his copy of You'll Never Walk Alone.

The referee is not having any of that malarky, blowing for the start of the game mid-chorus.

    We are under way.

  10. Teams outpublished at 22:04 British Summer Time 28 July 2018

The crowd is clad mostly in red. But neither of the teams are.

    Got to shift the merchandise.

Jose Mourinho has been stirring the pot.

There has been a bit of back and forth in the media in the build-up to this match with Mourinho claiming that Liverpool's summer spending needs to be justified by a "new Premier League record" over the following campaign.

Klopp responded by claiming that one of his "life goals is to make Jose Mourinho smile".

This season might be pretty fruity between those two.
