  1. 'England are too zonal'published at 20:45 British Summer Time 11 September 2018

    England 0-0 Switzerland

    Chris Waddle
Ex-England winger on BBC Radio 5 live

At this level of football, England are playing too zonal. When England have pressed high and asked questions of Switzerland, they have had a bit of success, but they don't do it enough.

    England 0-0 Switzerland

Swiss midfielder Denis Zakaria takes aim from way out, but the effort is into Row Z.

    Better from the home side.

Eric Dier pops the ball on to Ruben Loftus-Cheek, but the Chelsea man's dipping shot is gathered comfortably by Swiss goalkeeper Yann Sommer.

    Switzerland have had 65% possession.

  5. 'The Swiss are popping up in different areas'published at 20:41 British Summer Time 11 September 2018

    England 0-0 Switzerland

    Chris Waddle
Ex-England winger on BBC Radio 5 live

The England midfield three just play in their positions whereas the Swiss players are popping up in different areas. It is very easy for the Switzerland team at the moment. If they had a top class striker they could have been two or three up here.

  6. Nations League latestpublished at 20:40 British Summer Time 11 September 2018

    Spain 3-0 Croatia

Half-time in tonight's seven Nations League matches, all of which kicked off at 19:45 BST.

In England's group, Spain are running away with it against Croatia - 3-0 up in Elche. After Saul Niguez's opener, Marco Asensio scored the second, and might feel a tad unlucky not to be able to claim the third, with his fizzer of a shot hitting the bar and rebounding in off goalkeeper Lovre Kalinic.

Belgium are 2-0 up in Iceland, in League A Group 2, with Eden Hazard's penalty and Romelu Lukaku's goal making the difference.

In League C Group 2, Finland lead Estonia 1-0, while Laszlo Kleinheisler's first international goal in almost three years has given Hungary a 2-1 lead over Greece.

Luxembourg are 2-0 up on San Marino in League D Group 2, in which the other game, between Moldova and Belarus, is goalless. It's 0-0 too between Bosnia-Herzegovina and Austria in League B Group 3.

  7. CLOSE!published at 20:38 British Summer Time 11 September 2018

    England 0-0 Switzerland

Alert goalkeeping from Yann Sommer - in contrast to opposite number Jack Butland's performance so far.

The Swiss number one is quickly off his line to deny Danny Welbeck's flick off Danny Rose's cross.

  8. 'Northern Ireland winning at a canter'published at 20:37 British Summer Time 11 September 2018

    Northern Ireland 2-0 Israel

    John O'Neill
Former Northern Ireland defender on BBC Radio Ulster

Northern Ireland are so comfortable here - they're winning at a canter without having to do a lot.

All the good play is coming down the right from McNair and Dallas - I'd just like to see more threat down the left.

  9. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:37 British Summer Time 11 September 2018

    Poland 0-0 Republic of Ireland

The Poles showed a little more urgency as half-time neared but this game has been played at friendly international pace.

Milik should have put the hosts ahead with his 10th-minute header but after the Republic's awful display in Cardiff, under-pressure Martin O'Neill will take solace from his team's first-half efforts.

Enda Stevens and John Egan have been particularly effective in the Irish defence although the visitors have displayed little attacking fluency.

  10. NI more clinicalpublished at 20:36 British Summer Time 11 September 2018

    Northern Ireland 2-0 Israel

BBC Sport NI's Richard Petrie at Windsor Park: "It hasn't been vintage fare during the first half at Windsor Park but Northern Ireland fans are drifting off to the stadium concourse for their half-time snacks on a bitterly cold night in Belfast content with their team's first-half efforts.

"Crucially Michael O'Neill's men have shown a more clinical edge after squandering a hatful of chances against the Bosnians on Saturday.

"Young guns Jamal Lewis, George Saville, Paddy McNair and Jordan Jones have impressed but its two of the established starters - skipper Steven Davis and Stuart Dallas - who have their names on the scoresheet."

  11. 'England cannot get near them'published at 20:36 British Summer Time 11 September 2018

    England 0-0 Switzerland

    Chris Waddle
Ex-England winger on BBC Radio 5 live

Switzerland are playing some lovely football and they have had total control. England cannot get near them. They always have one or two options in possession, which England do not.

  12. CLOSE!published at 20:36 British Summer Time 11 September 2018

    England 0-0 Switzerland

This is England's second string, but Switzerland are making the Three Lions look like a second rate side at the moment.

Full-back Ricardo Rodriguez causing more problems down the left and almost picks out Mario Gavranovic in the box with his low cross.

Again, Jack Butland flapping around. Not sure he would have got to it.

  13. England spluttering so farpublished at 20:35 British Summer Time 11 September 2018

    England 0-0 Switzerland

    Phil McNulty
BBC Sport chief football writer at The King Power Stadium

England - perhaps understandably for a team with nine changes - simply cannot find any rhythm or fluency so far.

They are creating little and look nervous at the back. It is all making for a very subdued atmosphere inside The King Power Stadium.

Not much to excite at all from an England viewpoint.

I think that Ross Barkley could be the player that England are missing. He's already played a couple of games ahead of Loftus-Cheek for Chelsea this season.

  16. CLOSE!published at 20:33 British Summer Time 11 September 2018

    England 0-0 Switzerland

AC Milan full-back Ricardo Rodriguez has a dangerous left foot, but almost punishes England with his right, ghosting past Danny Welbeck's non-challenge and striking a low shot which is saved in an unorthodox manner by Jack Butland.

England have three goalkeepers on the bench and I'll be surprised if Butland makes it out for the second half.

  17. CLOSE!published at 20:31 British Summer Time 11 September 2018

    Northern Ireland 2-0 Israel

Israel should pull a goal back but left-back Sheran Yelni's towering header is straight at goalkeeper Trevor Carson.

  18. 'Walker should be tucking in'published at 20:31 British Summer Time 11 September 2018

    England 0-0 Switzerland

    Chris Waddle
Ex-England winger on BBC Radio 5 live

Kyle Walker is shouting at somebody but he should be tucking in for the ball played in behind. It's clear to see. Apart from set-pieces England haven't really threatened.

  19. Postpublished at 20:30 British Summer Time 11 September 2018

    England 0-0 Switzerland

England opened up very easily by Mario Gavranovic's run, but the home side's defenders recover to snuff out the pullback.

    Worrying signs for Gareth Southgate.

Peter: How many times have we heard Shaqiri's name already? How many times have we heard Loftus Cheek's name?.. No play maker for England - I reiterate and rest my case!

Jon: I reckon the atmosphere for this match despite not being sell-out puts up an argument for selling Wembley. Play around the various club grounds, lower the ticket prices and fill the stadiums. Would also help football reach out across England.

Tom: There’s no balance to this team. Good players but no one creative in the middle. Welbeck needs to play more for him to be here.
