Sometimes you have got to put your foot through it. James Tarkowski is given a straight pass and he doesn't know what is around him. Just clear it and then you can argue about it later.

  2. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 20:08 British Summer Time 11 September 2018

    England 0-0 Switzerland

England trying to play out from the back, admirable, but not when four Swiss players are closing you down.

Goalkeeper Jack Butland passes the ball to James Tarkowski on the edge of the box, who loses the ball.

In comes Liverpool midfielder Xherdan Shaqiri with a shot from 20 yards out which strikes the foot of the post.

Oh my, what's Jack Butland doing???

The Stoke goalkeeper shows early jitters with the ball at his feet and almost puts the ball into his own net.

  4. 'England will get joy down the flanks'published at 20:05 British Summer Time 11 September 2018

    England 0-0 Switzerland

    Chris Waddle
Ex-England winger on BBC Radio 5 live

England are going to get a lot of joy down the flanks which is why I'm surprised Switzerland are experimenting with three at the back, because England are used to this system.

  5. Postpublished at 20:05 British Summer Time 11 September 2018

    England 0-0 Switzerland

England have made a sharp start with Danny Rose and Fabian Delph linking well down the left, but the Tottenham man's pullback is cut out.

Arsenal's Danny Welbeck then flicks a header on from a corner, but the effort is blocked.

    England 0-0 Switzerland

    Chris Waddle
Ex-England winger on BBC Radio 5 live

England will be trying to get the ball to Ruben Loftus-Cheek as much as they can tonight, with Fabian Delph and Eric Dier playing behind him. Both teams are playing the same system which should suit the hosts.

Cameron: Nothing against him personally, but do wonder why Welbeck gets a slot when he plays so irregularly for his club. So many other options.

Luke (in response): Comes across as personal. You have not mentioned Rose, Rashford, Loftus-Cheek or Delph. Welbeck has just as many appearances, if not far more than the others mentioned, even with his injuries

  10. Nations League latestpublished at 20:01 British Summer Time 11 September 2018

Seven (count them) Nations League games are taking place tonight - all of which kicked off at 19:45 BST.

Spain and Croatia, the other two sides who share League A's Group 4 with England, are goalless in Elche. Ivan Rakitic has bent a 20-yard shot just wide for Croatia, although Spain are having more of the game at the moment.

Finland lead Estonia 1-0 in League C Group 2, while Luxembourg - chasing a third successive win - are 1-0 up in San Marino, in League D Group 2.

Northern Ireland skipper Steven Davis strokes in a first-time finish from a corner.

Initially, it looks like a brilliant strike, but the Israeli goalkeeper Guy Haimov was wrong-footed by a big deflection.

  13. 'I can't see anybody replacing Kane'published at 19:57 British Summer Time 11 September 2018

    England v Switzerland (20:00 BST)

    Chris Waddle
Ex-England winger on BBC Radio 5 live

Everybody in football saw the draw opened up nicely for England at the World Cup, until they played Belgium and Croatia. We gave those countries a game but they were stronger. We are playing catch up when it comes to the top players.

If you take Harry Kane out of the team, I can't see anybody else playing that role of being an out-and-out number nine, but I think Danny Welbeck and Marcus Rashford will work hard and they will not be afraid to get in behind.

I think Callum Wilson should have been here because he scores goals for Bournemouth when he has been available.

Part of England's friendly fixture against Switzerland has been broadcast in black and white to honour Kick It Out's 25th anniversary.

The picture switched from colour to black and white for 25 seconds as the teams entered the pitch at the King Power Stadium.

The FA said the idea is to underline the "importance of diversity".

Kick It Out chair Lord Herman Ouseley said he hoped it will be a "powerful reminder of how far football has come".

England manager Gareth Southgate tells Sky Sports: "The game against Spain was a really good test for us.

"Our level of performance was good but they were better with us in certain areas."

Asked whether the younger players will want to stake a claim: "We know the players well so they don't have to prove anything to us individually, but the moment you step on the pitch, you do want to show what you can do."

On the venue: "The friendly at Leeds was one of the best games we played in the summer because of the atmosphere. Switzerland are a good side and it looks like they might have changed their system to deal with us, which has happened a lot since we have gone to three at the back."

Peter: Still no play maker in midfield? It's a friendly match for goodness sake, surely Gareth should be looking at Foden and Maddison - mark my words, they are the two young players who will make all the difference

  19. 'If we play them any younger we will be waiting outside Mothercare'published at 19:49 British Summer Time 11 September 2018

    England v Switzerland (20:00 BST)

    BBC Radio 5 live

England manager Gareth Southgate says young English players are "hungry" to be involved in the national side but will only feature when they are ready.

"We have got to develop the team and the players we have," said Southgate.

"There are some young players like Marcus Rashford and Joe Gomez who featured at the weekend. Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Trent Alexander-Arnold should be the future for England if we develop them right.

"They are hungry to play, and as and when the next group are ready, we will give them the opportunity as well. Our starting team on Saturday had an average age of 25, if we take them any younger, we will be waiting outside Mothercare."

Plenty of Leicester fans here today at the King Power. They will be supporting Harry Maguire and hoping to see debuts for Ben Chillwell and Demarai Gray. What a moment that would be for the duo called up from the U21s squad this week.
