    Romelu Lukaku (27 mins)

    Tap, tap, boom.

Alexis Sanchez launches a perfectly-weighted pass to Romelu Lukaku, who jumps between two defenders and heads past Joe Hart.

    That was slick.

    Lots of careless passes.

Ben Davies gives the ball away in his own half before Etienne Capoue repeats the trick at the other end.

Both escape but this game is a bit of a snoozefest.

    Burnley 0-0 Man Utd

After a zippy start, Man United are now taking their time to build up an attack.

That is until Lukaku gives away possession carelessly.

Burnley charge forward, Charlie Taylor sends the ball in from the left and it's cleared by Luke Shaw.

Now Dwight McNeil has a go...it's into the hands of David de Gea.

Corin: Looks like someone left a red sock in the United washing basket..

Dave W: Whoever put United's nice white shirts in the same wash as the red ones is going to be in trouble. They have come out a very pretty shade of pink.

We've all been there, haven't we?

    Burnley 0-0 Man Utd

    Michael Appleton
Ex-Leicester City assistant manager on BBC Radio 5 Live

I think there are two positive things I've seen from United so far, one is they are switching the ball well. In their opening games this season United have been guilty of playing in front of teams, it is evident today they are looking to get in behind Burnley.

    Best move of the game.

Abdoulaye Doucoure resists the temptation to shoot outside the area and instead passes to Daryl Janmaat who is out wide.

He pings a cross into the six yard area and Troy Deeney attacks it. Just over.

    Promising from the Hornets.

  8. YELLOW CARDpublished at 16:20 British Summer Time 2 September 2018

    Burnley 0-0 Man Utd

Alexis Sanchez and Phil Bardsley are at it again.

Sanchez clips the defender's heels and is given a yellow card, as well as conceding a free-kick right on the edge of box on the right-hand side.

Dwight McNeil whips it in but it flies past everyone and out of play.

Luke Shaw holds his hands up and proclaims his innocence after he jumps high alongside Aaron Lennon and clips the Burnley man on the head.

Lennon recovers, the free-kick midway inside the United half is taken, but it's cleared by David de Gea.

More rough and tumble down the other end now! Alexis Sanchez backs himself into Phil Bardsley and is penalised.

Great run from Dele Alli, spotted the gaps in the Watford defence with Tottenham's wing-backs high, stretching the back four. A great ball from Alderweireld to find him, he tried to loop it over the keeper but gets too much on it.

    Chance!

A long punt forward by Toby Alderweireld finds Dele Alli whose looping first-time header lands just wide of Ben Foster's post.

    Decent effort.

Joe Hart is a busy boy.

The Burnley keeper is forced down to his right to snaffle a ball into the box from Jesse Lingard. Lukaku was ready and waiting to pounce on that...

    Nothing to see here.

Indeed the lack of action on the pitch means the TV cameras keep switching to Elton John who is sitting in the stand. The Rocket Man is wearing a designer suit and shades, as you do when you go and watch the Hornets.

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport at Turf Moor

I don't know if it was connected to the banner protest or not but the Manchester United fans in the corner of Turf Moor sang Jose Mourinho's name before and after kick-off.

Mourinho went and applauded the Stretford End for a good minute after Monday's 3-0 defeat by Tottenham.

Teenager Dwight McNeil attempts to flick the ball on to Chris Wood, who is playing as a lone striker for Burnley, but David de Gea gets there first.

The hosts build up again with some neat passing before Chris Smalling pokes away the danger.

It's not a day for jumpers or jackets at Vicarage Road.

The sun is out and Javi Gracia has gone for the casual crisp white shirt look while Mauricio Pochettino looks like he's off to a catalogue shoot in his moody dark suit and tie.

No shots on target by either side.

  19. CLOSE!published at 16:04 British Summer Time 2 September 2018

Ooof. That was close for Jesse Lingard.

He's set up by a short pass from Alexis Sanchez, but the England international can't quite curl his shot inside the post.

    Tidy start by Watford.

Jose Holebas floats a pass over the top of Tottenham's defence and Roberto Pereyra is away.

He's halted in his tracks by an offside flag.
