  1. CLOSE!published at 17 mins

    Tottenham 1-0 Cardiff

Tottenham continue to push forward. This time it's Davinson Sanchez with the turn and shot in the box but it's blocked. It was lovely feet from the centre-back.

    Tottenham 1-0 Cardiff

Cardiff have only scored four goals this season, the second worst record after Huddersfield. Can they get back into this? It's Tottenham on the front foot again at the minute. Son Heung-min tries to get down the left wing but is forced out.

    Tottenham 1-0 Cardiff

Neil Warnock is shaking his head on the touchline. I don't think he's too impressed his team has conceded at a set-piece here. I think his gameplan is ruined.

    Eric Dier

Eric Dier helps himself to the easiest goal he'll score all season. Cardiff don't deal with a short corner, first allowing a cross from the left and then not winning the header in the middle. Davinson Sanchez doesn't make good connection with his header but the ball drops into the six-yard box where Dier tucks it into the corner.

    Tottenham 0-0 Cardiff

Good play from Danny Rose down the left. He drives into the penalty area before eventually being stopped by Bruno Manga.

    Corner to Spurs.

    Tottenham 0-0 Cardiff

Harry Winks has seen plenty of the ball so far for Spurs. He's sitting deep alongside Eric Dier in midfield. Both of those players were named in the England squad this week.

Moussa Sissoko is playing further forward and gets in down the right but his cross is cut out by Cardiff skipper Sean Morrison.

    Tottenham 0-0 Cardiff

Cardiff are pressing high here on Wembley's vast pitch. Davinson Sanchez plays back to Hugo Lloris and Harry Arter is charging down on the Spurs keeper.

However, Tottenham play the ball around well and get themselves up the field.

    Tottenham 0-0 Cardiff

It was Josh Murphy with that shot from distance which sailed comfortably wide of Hugo Lloris' goal. I wonder if that was just Neil Warnock's way of making sure his team weren't accused of not having a shot today. Get it over with early.

Cardiff get us under way... with a shot from the halfway line.

    Ambitious.

From 1-11 they are very strong, but if they get injuries then they might struggle. If Harry Kane cannot play then Fernando Llorente comes in, and they are not the same player.

I would be disappointed if I was a Spurs fan with the lack of transfers over the summer

The players have just made their way out onto a very sketchy-looking Wembley pitch.

The ground is by no means full today. There's just a smattering of spectators in the top tier.

Having watched Lionel Messi light up Wembley single-handedly in the week, Cardiff will have a gameplan to try and darken the stadium.

The Bluebirds' season, which was always going to be a hard one, doesn't get any easier - Spurs are the fifth member of last season's top seven they will have faced in their opening eight matches.

Neil Warnock will hope and pray that facing Barcelona will have taken its toll in some way on Spurs.

Mauricio Pochettino, though, will be looking for a comfortable day at their temporary office to maintain Tottenham's promising start to their league campaign.

    Tottenham v Cardiff (15:00 BST)

    Tottenham XI

Tottenham make just three changes from their midweek defeat by Barcelona in the Champions League.

Danny Rose returns at left-back, Eric Dier comes into central midfield and Moussa Sissoko gets a start.

Ben Davies, Victor Wanyama and Erik Lamela are the players to miss out.

Spurs XI: Lloris, Trippier, Sanchez, Alderweireld, Rose, Dier, Winks, Lucas, Son, Sissoko, Kane.

Subs: Gazzaniga (GK), Lamela, Wanyama, Walker-Peters, Llorente, Davies, Skipp.

    Cardiff XI

Cardiff are boosted by the return of Junior Hoilett, who missed last week's loss to Burnley with a virus.

Manager Neil Warnock had joked he would play 10 defenders for this game but has resisted that urge.

Joe Bennett is the only other change at full-back.

Cardiff: Etheridge, Bennett, Morrison, Bamba, Manga, Arter, Ralls, Murphy, Paterson, Camarasa, Hoilett.

Subs: Murphy, Richards, Ward, Zohore, Reid, Gunnarsson, Harris.

Hello and welcome to coverage of Tottenham v Cardiff City at Wembley.

Spurs were schooled by a Lionel Messi-inspired Barcelona in the Champions League during the week. Today they're likely to face a very different task up against Cardiff, who are still without a Premier League win this season.

Can the Bluebirds get a much-needed three points? Or will Spurs get back to winning ways?

    We'll find out soon.

Tottenham fell short against a world-class performance from one of the greatest players of all time on Wednesday night.

Today, could be a totally different proposition...
