  1. GREAT SAVE!published at 74 mins

    Liverpool 0-0 Man City

Bobby Moore stuff from Dejan Lovren! Manchester City have a break through Gabriel Jesus, Lovren commits himself to a lunge in and takes the ball as clean as you like. Gets a huge cheer.

But City have stepped on the gas, now they free Bernardo Silva down the left, his cross is too firm but retrieved by Riyad Mahrez, who shoots low and hard and it's tipped away by Alisson.

The first genuine save of the game.

  2. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 72 mins

I've seen it all now - David Silva plays a poor ball, clean out of play!

Daniel Sturridge is on for Roberto Firmino.

I'm thinking to myself 'goal' because it's Mo Salah.

One pass, Salah is in, all he has to do is lift it over the goalkeeper.

But Salah looking off colour again.

    Liverpool 0-0 Man City

A rare bit of space as Manchester City break away but Riyad Mahrez can't get the better of Virgil van Dijk. Not many do.

Then Liverpool come away quickly, Andrew Robertson plays a long ball over the top for Mo Salah to chase, and reach. Ederson is off his line and vulnerable, Salah brings back the trusty left foot and lashes it a mile over.

I'm loathe to open the Salah sharpness debate but last year you'd have backed him to score there...

Joe Gomez down the line for the first real time form right-back, he tries to chop inside and he's fouled by Fernandinho. Mo Salah whips the ball in but he's got too much on it and puts it into the Kop.

  8. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 65 mins

    Liverpool 0-0 Man City

A Fantasy Football disaster from Sergio Aguero, booked and hooked. He's still never scored at Anfield, just like Sean Dundee.

    On comes Gabriel Jesus.

  9. YELLOW CARDpublished at 64 mins

    Liverpool 0-0 Man City

Crafty from Ben Mendy as he gets a handful of shirt as Mo Salah twists away from him on the right, but the officials do see it and the Frenchman is booked. The set-piece comes to nothing though.

Brilliant defending from Virgil van Dijk.

He didn't dive in and made sure Riyad Mahrez went on his weaker foot.

    Very clever from van Dijk.

SHOT ON TARGET!published at 62 mins

    Liverpool 0-0 Man City

    CELEBRATE GOOD TIMES, COME ON!

    A SHOT ON TARGET.

Riyad Mahrez tests Alisson from inside the area and then for good measure Mo Salah curls a 20-yarder effort into the hands of Ederson.

Two shots in a minute. This game is set to get going...

  12. CLOSE!published at 61 mins

    Liverpool 0-0 Man City

As close as we have come! David Silva with a scalpel of a pass, from left to centre and Riyad Mahrez streaks through, he takes it early and whips a left-footed shot about three yards wide.

    Promising.

  13. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 60 mins

    Liverpool 0-0 Man City

    Penalty?! Surely?!

A corner comes in and Virgil van Dijk beats it away with his arm - ah but he was fouled by Fernandinho in the process.

    Pep Guardiola isn't happy though.

Still stalemate but Manchester City's willingness to stroke the ball around at the back - even in their own six-yard area - is actually encouraging Liverpool and galvanising the home crowd.

    And this game needs galvanising.

    A little bit of excitement!

It just wouldn't fall for anybody in the box but it's encouragement in the right area.

  19. YELLOW CARDpublished at 55 mins

    Liverpool 0-0 Man City

Better at the other end too as Riyad Mahrez tricks his way around Andy Robertson and puts in a good low cross but Virgil van Dijk anticipates it and cuts it out.

Sergio Aguero is now booked for a barge into the back of Jordan Henderson. It's actually a kick on his knee. Nasty one.

  20. Postpublished at 54 mins

    Liverpool 0-0 Man City

Noise on the Kop as Liverpool at least fashion a half chance - they get the ball into the area down the left and cut it back but Naby Keita rather gets in the way of a team-mate and between them they fail to get a shot off.

    Better though!
