GamerZombie: Manchester United really do love their second half comebacks eh?

BabyBoomer: United trying the Ali rope a dope trick. Let the opposition run rings round you for 45 mins then come back in the 2nd half when they tire

J, externaleremiah: Looks like Mourinho has a game plan. Keep fans stressed in the first half. Then turn the game on in second half.

  2. goal

GOAL - Chelsea 1-2 Man Utdpublished at 73 mins

    Anthony Martial

Hello there! What a goal that is!

The old David Luiz rears his head with a rather crazy decision to lunge in and try and win the ball on the left wing, Juan Mata beats him and the defender is totally out of the game. Marcus Rashford looks up and finds Anthony Martial on the left-hand side of the area, his touch is not good but he is able to run around it and bend a low finish into the far corner!

    Another second-half comeback for United?

The Manchester United midfield is starting to get up and not just let Chelsea play out from the back.

It's a much more evenly matched game now. United are completely different side this half.

  4. GREAT SAVE!published at 71 mins

    Chelsea 1-1 Man Utd

Strike! Ngolo Kante looks to mark his 100th game for Chelsea with a belter but his 25-yard bullet is turned away by one David de Gea hand.

Much better from Paul Pogba and Romelu Lukaku since the break - Pogba finds his number nine who almost wrestles his way into the area and needs two defenders to shut him down. The pressing from the men in red is so much better.

Aleksander: That United goal only made possible by the fact that Chelsea scored first.

TheMemeMan: If United could actually start games with the same sort of intensity and pressure that we see after going 1 or 2 goals down, we'd truly be a force to to be reckoned with.

Juan Mata is so keen to win the ball, he goes straight through Cesar Azpilicueta.

They had a laugh afterwards and all is fine.

    Great chance!

More woeful marking from a set-piece from Manchester United as Willian whips a beauty of a free-kick into the near post, David Luiz is free and meets it well but heads it down and wide!

At the other end Juan Mata is then booked for a lunge on Cesar Azpilicueta.

Into the final quarter of the match, anyone's game. The second half has been brighter for the visitors, Chelsea yet to totally regain the midfield control they had before the break.

That is the first goal that Manchester United have scored at Chelsea under Jose Mourinho, by the way. Could this be number two? Romelu Lukaku has the ball in space for once, he runs at the area, David Luiz looks in a touch of trouble but makes a very good challenge.

DeathApeDisco: Martial will leave Man Utd and become one of the best strikers in the world. Mourinho plays him on the left wing.

babyboomer: Well done Mata & Martial. Mata is the best footballer in the squad with the ball at his feet. Pity he lacks pace.

Mourinho's style hasn't evolved with the modern game? Obviously we'll have to ignore the league title, two league cups, Europa League and Community Shield won in the last 5 years.

Not much sympathy for Marcos Alonso, it seems.

Chelsea back on the front foot and Eden Hazard has a shot deflected away for a corner. Cleared. More methodical home pressure.

Michael: Embarrassing by Alonso. Get up and play on. Don't stay down in the box when the opposite team are attacking. If there's ever a case for 'Man-up' this was it.

Mic: Unless your leg is broke, you don’t stay down on the pitch when you’re defending in your own box. Alonso cost them that goal. Get up, man!!

Ashfaq: What in the world is Alonso doing? He's down on the ground without being injured!!! Get up and DEFEND!!!

It's taken a while but Manchester United are suddenly full of running and urgency. It was their first spell of real pressure - all in the space of a few seconds - and it has brought them level.

Jose Mourinho remains impassive as he sits in the technical area.

Manchester United's fans have been noisy and never lost faith. Now they have been rewarded.

Jake: Now that's how United should be playing for 90 minutes week in week out!! What a goal Martial!! Come on United!!

Tim: You have to give Martial credit. His a good goal scorer, even when he is not having a good game, I.e Newcastle, Jose keep playing him!!

  20. 'A lifeline for United'published at 13:46 British Summer Time 20 October 2018

    Chelsea 1-1 Man Utd

    Matthew Upson
Former England defender on BBC 5 live sport

Marcos Alonso was laying on the floor for the majority of that piece of pressure.

It was a sharp save from Kepa from Juan Mata's shot and the ball comes back in and Rudiger goes to sleep - he doesn't pick up Antony Martial and the ball ricochets into his path and it's a simple, low finish into the bottom left-hand corner.

United have a lifeline. Alonso just can't do that in his own six-yard box unless he is seriously injured.
