That proved to be a decent night's entertainment didn't it? Much better than watching all the soaps.

Mesut Ozil was the star of the show, netting a brilliant equaliser to become the highest scoring German in Premier League history, then playing a key part in Arsenal's second and third goals.

Unfortunately he won't be showing his skills on the Champions League stage this season, but the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Sergio Aguero and, er, Chris Smalling will.

Arsenal

Arsenal defender Shkdoran Mustafi tells Sky Sports: "We finished the first half well and it was important to get the equaliser. It gives you motivation for the second half and keep pushing then we did some brilliant play.

"You can to give credit to the whole team, it started off with the goalkeeper and it gives us confidence for the next game. I am happy for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang who came on and scored twice. Every player in this team has shown they are important and everyone coming in tries to give everything.

"I do not have to tell you how good a player Mesut Ozil is, he has shown that. When you give him the opportunities in his favourite position behind the striker, he has the capability of doing everything - making goals and scoring. He can make us look very dangerous going forward."

Arsenal have been drawing at half-time in each of their past seven Premier League games before going on to win by the way...

Arsenal

Arsenal boss Unai Emery speaking to BBC Sport: "It was good in the second half, first half we finished well. We started cold maybe.

"The progression in the 90 minutes was good and we played with good attitude and level in our quality - also with the supporters helping us - the victory is a big one and we deserved it.

"Each match and training Mesut Ozil's commitment is very good. The players are working and helping each other. Today the performance of the team and also with Mesut was very good.

"A good result and good goals - the team was only missing the first 30 minutes. We look at Leicester, they are a very good team.

Is a title challenge possible? "We have every match as a big challenge. To continue wining is difficult and today is very important because Leicester are near us in the table. We'e only thinking of each match."

Leicester City

Leicester manager Claude Puel, speaking to BBC Sport, about his side not being awarded a clearcut penalty for handball in the first half:

"I am angry about this decision because all the good work from my players was not helped. I thought it was a penalty, we saw this from the bench, all the people in the stadium saw this penalty and it was handball.

"It is not possible to have another decision other than a penalty and also it was another yellow card and sending off.

"I didn't speak to the referee afterwards because it is finished and we can't come back with another decision. But I regret this decision because all the people in the stadium saw this decision was wrong.

"The penalty is an important thing but also afterwards we needed to score more and be more clinical."

Arsenal

Arsenal boss Unai Emery on Sky Sports: "Different halves. every match is difficult. First half we didn't control the match with possession and positioning.

"We are happy because we are progressing. We need to play with organisation but also with heart.

"We are beginning to play with heart.

"When you continue to improve your demands are very high. We need to control the matches more than we are doing now. First half we didn't play well but then we played with quality and heart. This feeling together is very good.

"We need the number 10 position sometimes with Mesut Ozil and sometimes with Aaron Ramsey. We can't plat with both sometimes. Last match was away and we played it with two strikers. Today Mesut was very good but I believe in every player and different positions for the players."

Football's focus is on one man tonight...

Leicester manager Claude Puel: "I was happy about our first half, it was brilliant, our best half since the beginning of the season. We deserved to score more goals.

"I didn't understand why the referee didn't give a penalty. It was a penalty and a second yellow card and sending off. This situation can change the game.

"At the beginning of the second half we lost a lot of balls, we gave them the ball too easily and put ourselves under pressure. But we had chances to be leading by more.

"We didn't come back in the second half with the same quality and intensity. But we don't deserve this result at the end. It was a shame."

Why did Jamie Vardy go off near the end and leave Leicester with 10 men? "He was ill he could not come back on the pitch. He seems OK now."

Leicester City

Leicester keeper Kasper Schmeichel on Sky Sports: "It's a cliche of a game of two halves. I think their keeper is man of the match in the first half. I've never seen a clearer penalty (than the handball). But in the second half we've got to do better.

"We spoke to the referee - he can't go out and give the penalty again can he?"

Although we should remember that the game could have been completely different had Leicester been awarded a penalty when Rob Holding clearly handled the ball at 0-0 in the first half. In my mind it would have been a second yellow card too...

Just watching the Arsenal goals again... I've drooled on my keyboard.

Speed of thought, fleet of foot, awareness, execution. The full bag.

I might be going big early here but... that second for Aubameyang could well be a contender for goal of the season.

"We work throughout the week to be good from the start but if we keep playing the football we will get chances.

"Tactically, Unai Emery has always been a coach which wants his full-backs to push forward and gives a lot of confidence to them and makes sure we have cover. It is important to have the confidence behind you."

Arsenal defender Hector Bellerin tells Sky Sports: "It has been a difficult game and they put us in some trouble but we stood up and in the second half the football started flowing and found space in the game. We have player like Mesut Ozil, Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and easier for the goals to come.

"Leicester are a team that press on the front foot and have a lot of pace in the final third. It is hard to defend against and we knew we would have these problems."

I was listening to the crowd and how they got behind the team. Things are getting better and improving. Arsenal fans are realistic and not expecting big titles but the team is growing.

It's going to be a big January for Arsenal in terms of who they recruit. They are not far off.

To recap... Arsenal are up to fourth in the Premier League table with these three points.

Leicester remain 11th after their second straight defeat.

The nay-sayers reckon the Gunners haven't played anyone decent yet.
