Graham Green: It’s very generous of Southampton to give City a training exercise in advance of City’s match against Shakhtar Donetsk on Wednesday. If City win that one, they should sent a case of champagne to the Saints.

    Man City 4-1 Southampton

Two shots in a minute for Southampton. Both from range from Mario Lemina. The first he fires well wide, the second is deflected and remains looping on target but is gathered by Ederson.

This half has been much more of a contest. Unfortunately for Southampton, the first half happened.

Palace are causing problems on the counter-attack. This time Wilfried Zaha finds Max Meyer on the edge of the box but his shot is fired high over the crossbar.

This is only Meyer's second league start of the season but he's looked sharp.

Plenty of possession from Chelsea but they are yet to create any real chances. That scuffed effort from Willian in the second minute remains their only shot.

Oh, what a goal this would have been.

City work the ball across the box for Sergio Aguero to set up Leroy Sane for a fierce, curling effort that strikes the outside of the post and goes wide.

Brilliant play from Wilfred Zaha, he had about three or four Chelsea shirts around him, never panicked and knew exactly where all of the players were.

He ran about 20-30 yards up the pitch and brought his team a very good free kick in a dangerous area.

Wilfried Zaha twists and turns brilliantly before he's brought down by Ross Barkley. He earns his side a free-kick which Luka Milivojevic takes but Chelsea clear it before David Luiz is fouled in midfield.

Patrick van Aanholt anticipates Ross Barkley's pass and steals the ball. He lays it off to Wilfried Zaha and goes sprinting down the left.

Zaha gives him one to chase but van Aanholt can't find a teammate with his cross because nobody had caught up with him!

    Ederson to the rescue again.

Southampton win another corner that Danny Ings heads on to Fernandinho and towards goal, but Ederson is down well to block.

Fair play to the Saints, they're giving it a good go.

Palace have started well, 12 minutes in and not too much drama.

Chelsea have been trying to bring the ball in but if Eden Hazard does come on he will change this game.

Brilliant from Chelsea's midfielders as Wilfried Zaha is swarmed upon immediately after he had won possession back.

There were five players around him within seconds and even someone as skillful as Zaha wasn't going to get past them.

    Man City 4-1 Southampton

Sterling's lightning pace keeps a Bernardo Silva pass to the byline alive. His chipped ball back is put behind. City take the resulting corner short and Walker's cross is headed behind by Jack Stephens, under pressure from Aymeric Laporte. Goal-kick is the decision, incorrectly.

    Chelsea 0-0 Crystal Palace

Normality resumes at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea are starting to dominate possession and are sweeping it around the back patiently.

That is until David Luiz tries to flick one over the top but gets it all wrong and it sails out for a goal kick.

    Man City 4-1 Southampton

Southampton have started this half well. A cross from the right finds Nathan Redmond wide left and his return ball makes its way to Mario Lemina for a shot this is deflected wide.

The resulting corner? It's poor. Straight into the hands of Ederson.

    Chelsea 0-0 Crystal Palace

Ross Barkley miscues his cross and it manages to bobble through to Wayne Hennessey after a defender swipes at it and misses.

Alvaro Morata was lurking dangerously but Hennessey had safe hands.

    Man City 4-1 Southampton

Southampton are the first to really threaten in the second half. They should score as well. James Ward-Prowse's shot is spilled by Ederson, but the City keeper makes amends with a superb block to deny Danny Ings his second goal.

  17. A home disadvantagepublished at 5 mins

    Chelsea 0-0 Crystal Palace

Palace look up for this it seems.

Chelsea need to be wary as six of their seven league goals conceded this season have come at home. And as we pointed out earlier, Palace do well away from home...

    M. Bojinov: With Pep being a perfectionist, I hope he lays it into the team. Should be aiming for a cricket score, instead Ederson concedes a stupid penalty and the potential club record of consecutive league clean sheets is gone.

Bishop Adamu-Chitumu: As a Man Utd fan it hurts when you see Man City play so beautifully week in week out, and all you can do is "hate to love" them. I'm deeply pained beyond words.
