Someone make a tackle. Someone. Anyone. Please.

They talk about walking the ball into the net. This is perhaps the best example you'll ever see.

Sterling beats one man, two men, another, then finds Sane, who does the same, as does Silva, and Aguero. All this without a shot coming. Finally, a foot in a red sock pokes out and diverts the ball to Kyle Walker, whose shot is off target.

    Bonkers.

I wasn't sure why he came out, it was a needless penalty.

Ederson should have stayed on his line, he committed and he didn't need to do it.

It was a penalty, I do feel for Ederson, he's there watching this game, waiting for some action.

He clearly thinks I'll get that, I'll show them what I can do.

That concentration level is so important, especially when you play for Man City and it is so comfortable.

Lovely play from City again, this time to free Sterling down the left. He twists and turns for space before trying to find the overlapping David Silva with a backheel that is just too heavy and rolls out of play for a goal-kick.

    Danny Ings

Game on? Ings makes no mistake, sending Ederson diving to his right as the ball is stroked into the opposite bottom corner.

It's a tiny, tiny lifeline for Saints. It could, of course, also just poke the Man City beast with a stick.

Ian Dunn: Possible cricket score at The Etihad?

Wayne Andrews: So, goals after 6,12 and 18 minutes? At this rate it will be 15-0 - or 16-0 if there's 6 minutes of added time.

Southampton with a sniff. The ball nearly breaks to Danny Ings in the box, but before he can put his boot through it, it is nicked away from him and cleared.

Manchester City have scored six once and five another twice already this season.

Their biggest win under Pep Guardiola is 6-0 at Watford last September.

The way this game has gone so far, it would be a surprise if City didn't beat that today.

Aleksander Pagels: Referee might as well finish the game now, last 70 minutes are redundant.

Joshua Dagnall: 17 mins into this Man City match against Southampton and its up there with some of the best football I’ve ever watched. That third goal was just delicious build up play.

Chris Clee: This is shameful. Shambolic. This is a relegation performance. I know we're playing City but this is pathetic and ridiculous.

    I'm lost for words, incredible!

This first half performance, what they've done is they've ripped Southampton to ribbons. City are just bopping it around and Southampton don't know what to do.

    No chance McCarthy 3-0!

Someone just said to me, 10...

Southampton will not want to be on that pitch any longer.

Southampton's first half chance to threaten comes in the form of a free-kick, which James Ward-Prowse swings in. It is headed away easily by City.

Lawro had this down as a 3-0 win in his predictions. He's under-clubbed.

This isn't fair, it's fishing with dynamite.

Raheem Sterling chips a cross over, Leroy Sane is challenged in the air and the ball falls to David Silva who lashes the ball into the roof of the net.

Pep Guardiola does a little jig on the touchline. Mark Hughes looks sick.

It's outstanding wing play, Sterling a brilliance from him.

Aguero knows when to get into that area and no doubt he just strokes it home, what a wonderful return from a wonderful player.

It's a great start and it's the movement that kills the opposition.
