Ashley Young should get out to him quick, he turns his back. You've got the armband on, be stronger, throw yourself in front of it.

GOAL - Liverpool 2-1 Man Utdpublished at 17:29 Greenwich Mean Time 16 December 2018

    Xherdan Shaqiri (73 mins)

    The gamebreaker!

Liverpool get a touch lucky, but you know what Michael Jordan said, you miss 100% of the shots you don't take...

Sadio Mane does really well on the left, he beats Ander Herrera and cuts the ball back. He has no team-mates in the goalmouth but it deflects off a defender, David de Gea reacts and kicks it out to Xherdan Shaqiri running on to it.

His shot is decent, but it requires a massive deflection off Ashley Young to beat De Gea and kiss the underside of the bar on its way in.

    Liverpool 1-1 Man Utd

Fabinho shoots from 35 yards, a sea of denim in front of him, but David de Gea is always going to save that. Jesse Lingard then beats a man down the left on a rare United attack, but his cross is overhit.

  4. Getting stretchedpublished at 17:27 Greenwich Mean Time 16 December 2018

    Liverpool 1-1 Man Utd

    Robbie Savage
Ex-Leicester City & Wales midfielder on BBC Radio 5 live

The game's getting stretched now. United are losing the ball and leaving gaps in the middle of the park.

It's important that Marouane Fellaini, Nemanja Matic and Ander Herrera hold that midfield area because Liverpool are such a threat on the counter-attack.

    Liverpool 1-1 Man Utd

    Robbie Savage
Ex-Leicester City & Wales midfielder on BBC Radio 5 live

I wonder if Jurgen Klopp will sacrifice one of his midfielders and put Roberto Firmino as his number 10, with Mo Salah as a lone striker and Xherdan Shaqiri out wide.

  7. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 69 mins

    Liverpool 1-1 Man Utd

A few tired legs on display out there. United struggling to track all of their runners now as Sadio Mane has a two on one on the right but doesn't make the most of it. His shot is charged down and Gini Wijnaldum then shoots from range, straight at David de Gea.

Liverpool replace Naby Keita with Xherdan Shaqiri. The partnership breaker?

This is like a game of attack versus defence! Almost every Liverpool fan in The Kop is on their feet, watching corner after corner, attack after attack.

  11. Postpublished at 65 mins

    Liverpool 1-1 Man Utd

United now have a chance! Ashley Young does really well on the left to get a cross in and Marouane Fellaini would surely bury the header until Andy Robertson flicks a header away to safety. United have their first corner...

    Cleared, just about.

  13. CLOSE!published at 63 mins

    Liverpool 1-1 Man Utd

Sadio Mane works some space from a miscued corner and finds Virgil van Dijk - his shot is charged down by Marouane Fellaini.

Credit where it's due, that is good defending from Nemanja Matic, well placed to prevent Dejan Lovren from heading in Mo Salah's cross. Liverpool cranking up the pressure a touch...

  16. 'Pathetic service'published at 17:18 Greenwich Mean Time 16 December 2018

    Liverpool 1-1 Man Utd

    Robbie Savage
Ex-Leicester City & Wales midfielder on BBC Radio 5 live

That sums up the creativity in United's midfield area. Three occasions Marouane Fellaini has given it away. Nemanja Matic and Ander Herrera are the same. That's why you have a bit of sympathy for Marcus Rashford, Jesse Lingard and Romelu Lukaku, because the service they get is pathetic - even though Lukaku can't hold the ball up this afternoon.

In terms of creativity, they're just there to defend, to stop Liverpool. It's Manchester United. Go out there and do something!

  17. Liverpool too hurriedpublished at 17:18 Greenwich Mean Time 16 December 2018

    Phil McNulty
BBC Sport chief football writer at Anfield

Liverpool are dominating possession at the start of this second half but two wild long-range shots from Nathaniel Clyne and another from Dejan Lovren suggests they need to show more patience.

  18. Postpublished at 60 mins

    Liverpool 1-1 Man Utd

Virgil van Dijk and Andrew Robertson both have shots blocked. That's 75% of their back four to have shots on goal in the last few minutes. United are so deep...

  19. Missing Dalot?published at 17:17 Greenwich Mean Time 16 December 2018

    Liverpool 1-1 Man Utd

Since Diogo Dalot's half-time substitution, United have not made a single attack down the right flank.
