That was very unlike Tottenham. Sanchez and Eriksen don't really close him down. The game's back on now.

Everton midfielder Andre Gomes has picked up an injury now. On comes Morgan Schneiderlin.

    Gylfi Sigurdsson

I asked for five goals before the game - we've got six already!

Wonderful stuff. Gylfi Sigurdsson does have a goal against his old club, slaloming away from a defender on the edge of the area and, while running from left to right, he puts in a shot diagonally into the other corner and in!

Hugo Lloris should do much better though. Much better.

    Christian Eriksen

What a strike! That is wonderful from Christian Eriksen and Spurs. Harry Kane puts in a cross from the right, Michael Keane heads it clear to about 25 yards from goal and the Dane runs on to it, smashes in a shot on the bounce and even puts bend on it, driving it away from Jordan Pickford's dive and into the corner.

It's one of those days for Everton...

Right, Everton need a goal and fast. They do have an early corner...

  6. KICK-OFFpublished at 45 mins

    Everton 1-3 Tottenham

Very strong from Shearer - it was wholly unnecessary from Jordan Pickford though, the whistle had aleady gone.

We're told that Dele Alli has got a hamstring injury.

    Everton 1-3 Tottenham

    BBC Radio London Sport
    Ex-Premier League striker James Scowcroft

If Everton get the next goal, we've heard what the crowd are like, they will get behind them and they have got good players.

The first 10 minutes of the second half are crucial for Spurs. If they come out and be disciplined, set themselves up well and get that fourth goal, then they can relax.

  9. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 17:02 Greenwich Mean Time 23 December 2018

Dele Alli comes off at half-time - injured? - Erik Lamela is coming on.

Tottenham have been absolutely clinical in front of goal and the final third. They don't waste the ball. In midfield it's been quite even, it's been a very good half, but Tottenham have got that much more control, pace and firepower than what Everton have got, and they've used it to devastating effect in the first half.

This is only the second time Everton have scored the first goal and conceded 3+ goals in the first half of a Premier League game, after a 1-5 loss to Man Utd in December 1999.

Interestingly, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer scored four that day...

Everton haven't played that badly, if you ask me. Just been undone by a bad mistake at the back and some very good play from Spurs.

It could have been different if that Dominic Calvert-Lewin header had been allowed to stand...

Dele Alli plays on after an offside flag, he tries to just dribble it around England team-mate Jordan Pickford, who leaves plenty on his challenge. Bit of needle in that, although they shake hands. Just frustration from the keeper.

    Everton 1-3 Tottenham

    BBC Radio London Sport

What a free-kick by Trippier. I'm not sure Pickford has his wall set up properly.

But when it comes back off the post Harry Kane is in the right place at the right time. It's that natural instinct he has.

  18. Postpublished at 44 mins

Spurs have had 11 shots, five on target, and scored three times. All while going behind early on. They have looked very, very good.

  19. goal

GOAL - Everton 1-3 Tottenhampublished at 42 mins

    Harry Kane

    He doesn't miss those!

Spurs are having some half. Kieran Trippier's free-kick is very nearly perfect, bent around the wall and against the base of the post. It bounces back into the danger zone and Harry Kane is there first to cushion a finish into the roof of the net.

Made it look very easy. It wasn't.

Mr. E: If Pickford is England number 1 no wonder they will win nothing. One good tournament doesn’t make him a world class keeper he’s full of mistakes, over rated.

Shuvam Sinha: That's two big errors in the space of a month by Pickford. Any other keeper and he would have been dropped. His World Cup exploits are saving him from the axe.

Kyle: Pickford is only 24 and he does make a lot of superb saves. However he does make a lot of big mistakes to so he has to try and limit the mistakes he makes. This one has come only a few weeks after the one that cost them at Liverpool.
