    Southampton 1-2 West Ham

Southampton are having to push forward looking for an equaliser, and that's giving West Ham loads of space to exploit on the break.

The hosts regroup this time, but it's only a moment's rest as the Hammers pour forward again through Michail Antonio and Andy Carroll.

  2. CLOSE!published at 69 mins

    Southampton 1-2 West Ham

Felipe Anderson is causing havoc right now.

He drops a shoulder and sets off down the line before pulling the ball back into the path of Lucas Perez, but a last-ditch lunge from Jannik Vestergaard blocks the former Arsenal man's strike from inside the box.

  3. Anderson watchpublished at 21:08 Greenwich Mean Time 27 December 2018

Stat of the night. Possibly the week. Maybe the season.

Neil Kennedy: Go one down after 50 minutes. 8 minutes later and it's 2-1 up thanks to 2 magnificent goals from Felipe Anderson. That's what you pay £45million for - COYI!!!

Alex Haworth: Putting Felipe Anderson in my fantasy football team might be the best decision I've made this year.

Sean Turner: You couldn't ask Santa if he does lottery numbers as well, could you?

Santa definitely delivered on my request at the start of the second half, didn't he? Thanks, Santa!

This has turned into some game.

Southampton whip it wide to Matt Targett, who curls in a low ball across the area and it's scrambled clear by the visitors.

    Corner.

Sorry, Josh. If it helps, Ralph Hasenhuttl has now taken Danny Ings off as well...

    Steve Claridge

Can you believe the organisation from Southampton to leave themselves that open from that situation? Stuart Armstrong had a shot blocked on the edge of the box, and from there, West Ham had three or four men over on the break. To be fair, West Ham worked that brilliantly.

    Felipe Anderson (59 mins)

    Unbelievable...

What a break from the Hammers, straight from a Southampton corner, and Michail Antonio guides a wonderful pass into Felipe Anderson to put the winger through on goal.

Anderson takes a touch and fires past Alex McCarthy for his second goal in seven minutes.

Great strike from Stuart Armstrong, superb save from Lukasz Fabianski to push the Southampton midfielder's curling long-range effort wide of the post.

  16. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 55 mins

    Southampton 1-1 West Ham

Here comes the Carroll(ry)... the Hammers bring their giant front-man off the bench and he's immediately in the thick of it with a wild tackle that somehow doesn't warrant a caution.

  18. 'London buses'published at 20:55 Greenwich Mean Time 27 December 2018

    Steve Claridge
Ex-Premier League striker on BBC Radio 5 live

London buses, isn't it? We've barely had a strike on target, and then we get two goals in no time. Anderson has looked like the one who can open the door. Fantastic strike. The goalkeeper barely gets down to it before it's past him.

  19. 'Antonio got caught out'published at 20:54 Greenwich Mean Time 27 December 2018

    Steve Claridge
Ex-Premier League striker on BBC Radio 5 live

Lukasz Fabianski's gone over the linesman to say: "How is that not offside?" Matt Targett was on the ground in an offside position, but he obviously wasn't interfering with play. Nathan Redmond certainly wasn't offside. I think it was Michail Antonio who was playing him on. As much as Antonio is fantastic going forward, he's probably three or four yards further back than he should be. When you play someone out of position, and you ask them to work as part of a unit, it doesn't always function. They've been caught out there, West Ham.

  20. goal

GOAL - Southampton 1-1 West Hampublished at 53 mins

    Felipe Anderson (53 mins)

    Wowsa...

You wait 50 minutes for a goal, and then two come along at once.

No confusion over who's scored this one, an absolute thumper from the edge of the box from Felipe Anderson, who gets the ball out of his feet on the edge of the area and fires it into the bottom corner.
