  5. 'We were nervous and anxious'published at 14:52 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January 2019

    Everton 0-1 Leicester

    Everton

Everton manager Marco Silva speaking to Sky Sports:

Disappointing result, poor performance to be honest. In this moment we have to be honest and look clear at the game.

Poor performance since the first minute, we knew what they came here to do, playing a 4-5-1 and waiting for our mistake.

First half of course we are in control but every time we got on the ball we started to become too nervous without reason.

Not ambitious but anxious in some moments. When you are playing that way it is easy to miss passes and the game is a little confused.

We had just one chance with Jonjoe Kenny hitting the bar but nothing more.

When you play so anxious you make easy mistakes like the one we conceded. There is no reason they are under the normal pressure we’ll find the reason for that.

  7. 'Organisation was perfect'published at 14:44 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January 2019

    Everton 0-1 Leicester

    Leicester City

Leicester manager Claude Puel speaking to Sky Sports:

On bringing Marc Albrighton on in the second half: "I think it was time to add more balance to the team. We played with good solidity and recovered a lot of balls but sometimes we needed to improve our start with the ball because we lost some good balls."

"It was important to move back in the second half and create some situations. We know the finish of Jamie Vardy in these types of situations. We can have a better situation in the first half with ball recovery but it was perfect in the moment to score this goal.

"The organisation of the team was perfect and I am happy for the players because we lost our last game at home to Cardiff and it was not a fair result. We said after that game we wanted to take three points away. It was a difficult challenge of course but the team showed character.

"We know all the players are tired like us but the most important thing was to show our strength in this moment. We needed to have a different adaptation for this game. In this situation it is not just the quality but the physical makes a difference. We needed to find the right situation to move."

  8. 'Confidence is low at home'published at 14:39 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January 2019

    Everton 0-1 Leicester

    Everton

    Everton defender Kurt Zouma:

"It was a struggle, we lost a home game and we wanted to play well here, get back to winning ways and we couldn’t.

"Leicester came here and wanted the draw at least, one mistake gave the goal. This is football, we need to focus.

Why so poor at home?: "I don’t know, I think all the games we played at home we have had sloppy starts, so confidence is lower, but it is on ourselves to turn it around and do things right."

Henry: I adore Jamie Vardy but as a team we rely on him too much, a replacement will be hard to find.

Anon: Leicester fans need to maybe look at themselves instead of blaming the manager, winning big games away but recently struggling at home, get behind the team.

  13. 'Everton's worst performance this season'published at 14:26 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January 2019

    Everton 0-1 Leicester

    Leon Osman
Former Everton midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

Boos around Goodison, not only for the result but a really poor performance and Leicester took advantage, who were not at their best themselves. Leicester’s midfield and central defenders were great.

You give Vardy a chance he take it. They came with a game plan, defended deep and are going away with all three points.

Today was probably Everton's worst performance of the season.

Kyle: Everton may at times may play better football this season. However Allardyce took over Everton when they were in the bottom 3 he guided them to 8th. This Everton side are 10th and by Wednesday night could be 13th. Is Marco Silva taking them backwards?
