Peter: Some positivity for Arsenal. Despite many, shortcomings, they are picking up points, and winning matches. If they add some quality moving forwards, they'll be fine. It took Liverpool years, and even Pep a full season and £300 million to get it right. Time needed

GOAL - Arsenal 2-0 Fulhampublished at 55 mins

    Alexandre Lacazette

More angles than on your GCSE protractors.

Alex Iwobi slides in Pierre Emerick Aubameyang, who lays the ball into the path of Sead Kolasinac, who in turns cuts it back to Alexandre Lacazette.

The Frenchman coolly takes a touch and lifts it over Sergio Rico and into the roof of the Fulham net.

Lovely goal and surely all three points.

    Arsenal 1-0 Fulham

An almighty crowd scene in the Arsenal penalty box as Aleksandar Mitrovic nods down a free-kick and bodies pile in in pursuit of the scraps.

It is like the opening scene of Saving Private Ryan, but the offside flag is up to prevent it getting more messy for the hosts.

Aleksandar Mitrovic's header, stooping and 12 yards out, is claimed with ease by Bernd Leno in the Arsenal goal.

  10. 'Fulham lively in attack'published at 15:55 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January 2019

    Arsenal 1-0 Fulham

    Paul Parker
Ex-Fulham and Manchester United defender on BBC Radio London

We have to look at the game and say Arsenal could score more. But in general play Fulham have not been bad, attacking wise they have been quite lively. Without Sessegnon and Mitrovic the likelihood of Fulham scoring is zilch.

They can score, it is about the other end. When you have the front pair Arsenal have they can score whenever they go forward.

The response to the tweet below from Arsenal fans has generally been to agree that Iwobi is having a heck of a half, but that such performances are either too rare or lacking against top-quality opposition.

Stu: Come on lads, let's stop the negativity. Arsenal are in far better shape than Man Utd were when Fergie left. Give him a couple of transfer windows. Stop looking for instant success.

Dom: More than the flaky if injury ravaged defence, than the slightly undercooked midfield or the slightly limp superstar, the most serious problem by far with Arsenal is the fans, who seem incapable of coping with the slightest adversity, whinge constantly and seemingly have no perspective or humour. And I am one.

Steve: I know that he cant play due to the loan, but this is the game where we NEEDED Chambers. That said, Cisse hasn't done a bad job for someone who doesn't get games...

HalfManHalfBiscuit: Fulham playing well, but in their position, results matter. If they keep playing like this and take their chances, surely they have a good chance of staying up.

  16. GREAT SAVE!published at 43 mins

    Arsenal 1-0 Fulham

The threat comes from the left once again as Granit Xhaka's deft little header finds Alexandre Lacazette.

The Frenchman goes for power from an acute angle, but Sergio Rico reacts fast to get a leg to the ball and deflect it behind.

  17. 'Aubameyang should score'published at 15:44 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January 2019

That was good intricate play between Alexandre Lacazette and Alex Iwobi. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang gets in front of his man and he should score with the header. Great movement though.

  18. CLOSE!published at 40 mins

Alex Iwobi has been running the show out on the Arsenal left wing.

He feints one way and darts the other before standing a cross up to the near post.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was anticipated it perfectly, but zonks his header wide of the near post.

Kyle: Vital goal for Arsenal. Fulham should be encouraged though they are creating big chances. Arsenal have to tighten up at the back though I don't think they are good enough to do that. Fulham just have to be a bit more clinical in front of goal

  20. 'Fox in the box, liability in midfield'published at 15:40 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January 2019

    Arsenal 1-0 Fulham

    Paul Parker
Ex-Fulham and Manchester United defender on BBC Radio London

Great save from Sergio Rico, so many bodies, feet and knees and made the save from Granit Xhaka.

Outside the box Xhaka as been been awful, but had two good shots on goal. They should tell him to stay inside the box, he is not a liability in there.
