More from Cardiff manager Neil Warnock speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "When we start off like that we shoot ourselves in the foot. All the planning goes out of the window. The goals were disappointing but they were too good for us in the first half. But that's life and you move on.

"I was pleased that we hung in there because it's easy to throw the towel down when you're 3-0 down to a team like this. Four points in three games over a difficult period is good really.

"We have had a great season so far. Players were told what they were doing and two or three let me down a little in that respect defensively today. We were playing for pride in the end.

"I can't understand why Moussa Sissoko wasn't booked just before half-time for that tackle on Greg Cunningham. I've seen a red given for that but not even a yellow? I just don't get it."

"The players might have been tired but I don't want to use that as an excuse. All credit to Spurs. It was disappointing that we didn't give ourselves any chances. All games are important but I'm glad it's the FA Cup this weekend if I'm honest. Hopefully we can get one or two additions which will help."

Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino on Sky Sports: "I'm very pleased, the one thing I need to say is we suffered without rest between the games and therefore from the players it was magnificent.

"They deserve full credit. It was a very tough period for us.

"The energy we showed from the beginning was fantastic to dominate the game. We knew that it would be difficult to open the score and we wanted from the beginning to have a high tempo. We found the solution in the first 20 minutes.

On losing Heung-min son to international duty: "That is football, we knew it would happen. He will go with his national team but we have players and football is about the squad and surely we will find the solution.

On going second: "I don't want to see the table. Of course we are in a good position. We need to be consistent. You must be consistent during the whole season.

On watching Man City v Liverpool: "I don't care - of course I will watch, it will be an unbelievable game and I enjoy football. The day after we play FA Cup very close to Liverpool and we need to be ready again because we have busy fixtures."

Spurs have won each of their four Premier League games against Cardiff – only Manchester City (7 v Bournemouth) and Arsenal (6 v Reading) have a better 100% record against an opponent in the competition.

Cardiff have the same number of points this season (18) as they did after 21 games of their only previous Premier League campaign (18 in 2013-14), however they do have a worse goal difference this term (-22).

Cardiff have conceded 25 goals across their games against the “big six” teams in the Premier League this season; the most of any side.

Cardiff City

Cardiff manager Neil Warnock speaking to Sky Sports: "We can't do what we did against Manchester United. You can't concede them [goals like that] against teams like this. I was glad we didn't fold in the second half.

"I was pleased with the way we responded but it was too late by then. We wanted to play for our pride. The crowd were noisy right until the end. I thought we were much better in the second half.

"If you give them a goal the other players ooze confidence. I am disappointed Moussa Sissoko didn't get a booking for that tackle in the first half. I thought it could have been a red. Why is he not getting booked? You don't seem to get any consistency. I don't understand that.

"You can't be too disappointed for too long. You have to get on with it and we go again. You have to keep putting defeats behind you and move onto the next one.

On buying players: We need two or three players. The chairman is working hard. It is not straight forward. January is a terrible month really to be buying."

Mauricio Pochettino has just said he "loves English football." Oh Poch, stop it!

Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham goalscorer Christian Eriksen on Sky Sports: "We all know how it felt losing at home and we had to bounce back. We were lucky with the first goal and afterwards we had the ball for the rest of the game.

On his goal: "I said to Sonny (Son Heung-Min) it was a bad pass! Otherwise I'd have gone forward and taken it to the keeper - people know it's what I do best, going between the legs an shooting.

Does the win put pressure on Liverpool and Man City?

"We put pressure on everyone and took pressure off ourselves. It'll be back on for the next game. It felt like we were 18 points behind but we're not far off."

Cardiff City

Cardiff midfielder Harry Arter speaking to Sky Sports: "We knew how tough the game was going to be. We knew there would be a reaction from Spurs. Our gameplan was to stay in the game. It was an unfortunate first goal but they went on to dominate in the first half. They have the quality to do that to any side. It is disappointing because we couldn't manage it.

"There is no point being unrealistic at half-time. The game was finished. It would have taken a miracle to get four goals with the way they were playing. We didn't fold and we dug-in for damage limitation so that's a small positive.

"Spurs have got the ability to score four, five or six. They were able to do that against a good Everton side in their last away game. The Christmas break has been good for us with tough games. We have to stay positive.

"It's a credit to us that we are in a position where we can control our own destiny. As the fixtures come thick and fast you have to make sure you stay above the bottom three. We need to try and out-work team. That's the way we can get results."

Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham striker Son Heung-min speaking to Sky Sports: "We bounced back which was the main thing. It was a very important game to get three points. We showed our character.

"It was lucky we scored early-on but we deserved the three points and could have scored a little bit more.

"Everyone gets confident when we score early. We played aggressive. We scored three goals in the first half and the second half was more relaxed.

On watching the Manchester City v Liverpool game: "Of course. You always enjoy watching football and especially this big game. I don't support anyone but I will watch it obviously and enjoy it."

It was a thoroughly efficient job by Tottenham. They will be delighted with the result.

They are in the title race. It'll be difficult because they're still in Champions League and have to juggle other competitions.

That win moves Tottenham within six points of leaders Liverpool - who take on champions Manchester City on Thursday.

This was the perfect game for Tottenham to get back on the track. Spurs have been a joy to watch with their movement - Alli, Eriksen, Kane and Son.

Cardiff fans are still in great voice. A very comfortable afternoon for Spurs but the Bluebirds have fought in this second half.

The hosts swing a ball in from the right and Sean Morrison gets there ahead of Davinson Sanchez but it bounces wide of Hugo Lloris' right post.

Fernando Llorente's touch finds Harry Kane and the striker flicks it on further for Moussa Sissoko to run onto. The midfielder drives into the box, creates some space to shoot but fires wide.
