Sam Allardyce has a way of playing games and Everton finished eighth under him last season but it was torture at times. You were not enjoying watching your team win - you should be happy but you're not.

It's what Southampton fans experienced and it's what Leicester fans are experiencing now with Claude Puel.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has asked fans to make a song for Trent Alexander-Arnold after he signed a new long-term deal at Anfield this morning...

Jack Spencer: Ohhh Alexander-Arnold, he plays for Jurgen's reds. He came on up through Melwood, makes Toffees lose their heads. He'll smash it with his left foot, he'll smash it with his right. And when he scores in front of the Kop, we'll sing this song all night! Ohhhh...

Can Leicester get at Wolves from the dead ball today? With the likes of Harry Maguire adding some beef to attacks they bring a threat and 10 of the last 16 Premier League goals conceded by Wolves have been via set pieces: four corners, four free-kicks and two penalties.

Leicester City manager Claude Puel on continued speculation regarding his future: "When we have a bad result it's normal to have feelings about me because I'm responsible for the team.

"I work with my players and I try to give them a positive attitude to start their game with the right intensity, and it's my work to find the solution.

"I accept some disapproval and people protesting, because it's my work. If we manage our games, people will be happy."

Leicester lost to Southampton last week despite Saints playing the whole second half with 10 men, and some Foxes fans are clearly not happy with manager Claude Puel.

That has been the case for a while now, despite Leicester's wins against Manchester City and Chelsea over Christmas, and it is another reason why I do not understand why Puel picked a weakened team for his side's FA Cup defeat by Newport County.

Wolves were beaten by Manchester City on Monday, but there was not much they could do about that once Willy Boly had been sent off after 19 minutes. I think they will get back on track here.

    Lawro's prediction: 2-0

The only time Wolves have played Leicester in the league saw them come back from 3-0 down to win 4-3 in October of 2003. A classic. That's a good sign.

This is just the sort of match Wolves have slipped up in recently despite their solid return to the top flight.

They've lost five of their last seven at home in the league and face a Leicester team that are not only looking for a third straight away league victory but also a third triumph over Wolves this season.

Nonetheless, back-to-back home defeats by Cardiff and Southampton and an FA Cup exit at the hands of Newport County have rather taken the shine off Leicester's impressive Christmastime victories over Chelsea and Manchester City.

So Claude Puel is currently finding that, just as when he was at Southampton, eighth place in the table doesn't in itself keep everyone happy.

West Ham got a great result in beating Arsenal on Saturday, while Bournemouth's defeat at Everton last week means they have lost nine of their past 12 league games.

These two clubs have rung in the New Year in style. Both are unbeaten since Boxing Day.

Burnley finished seventh last season to lay claim to being the Premier League's best of the rest.

In the week that marks a year in the job for Javi Gracia, seventh is where Watford now lie. Troy Deeney looks back in form too, with four goals in his last six games.

Sean Dyche visits his old club looking to extend a four-game winning streak. Burnley have rediscovered their resilience, coming from behind to win their last two league matches.

Liverpool v Crystal Palace (15:00 GMT)

    Guy Mowbray
Match of the Day commentator at Anfield

The last team to beat Liverpool in a Premier League game at Anfield won't be given a chance by many this time - but then Palace weren't at Manchester City in December either. I, for one, won't be quite so quick to write them off again.

With more points away than home, and a clean sheet tally bettered only by the top four, Roy Hodgson's team command respect.

The Eagles' remarkable return of three wins from their last four games away to Liverpool further rams that home and underlines it.

Every Liverpool victory takes them closer to that first title since 1990, but does that bring extra pressure that could affect them? Not yet.

John F. Kennedy was still America's President the last time Cardiff City won a league game on Tyneside. They've lost their subsequent nine visits but perhaps they'll never have a better chance to end that dismal record.

St James' Park has been anything but a fortress for Newcastle United - eight defeats already surpassing their total of seven for the WHOLE of last season.

Still the Geordies flock there, more in hope than expectation. That hope is wearing thin and they can expect an almighty scrap against Neil Warnock's men, who have only conceded in one of their last four league games.
