There was some talk last year that Wales were capping Ethan Ampadu to stop the Republic of Ireland trying to recruit him - his father is Irish. But there's zero doubt that he's already good enough for this level.

Bet Martin O'Neill wishes he had thought of that with Declan Rice...

Ryan Giggs is off to the perfect start and it was a fantastic team performance. I haven't seen Wales play with such freedom for some time but I really enjoyed watching that. The Republic of Ireland just couldn't cope with Wales tonight and they were dominant in every department.

When are Bale and Ramsey going to sign for Cardiff City? It may be a dream, but dreams do come true.

But that was a complete and utter shambles from the Irish. It will be interesting to see how tries to defend that.

That's nine goals conceded in their last two competitive games. It's harder to write the Denmark game as a one-off after that.

The future looks very bright for Wales - they started four youngsters and brought on another two - three different teenagers had a game today.

If that's what they look like now, what could they be in four years time?

It's all over. Wales were utterly brilliant but the Republic of Ireland were shocking.

Nothing to report. Just Wales boosting their possession stats of 67%. They'll probably reach 68 by the final whistle.

Not sure where they've found five minutes of injury time. But they have.

    Wales 4-1 Republic of Ireland

    Kevin Ratcliffe
Former Wales captain on BBC Radio Wales

I've seen Wales beat much better teams, like West Germany and Italy, but it has always been a battle.

In terms of the style of play, this is as good as I have seen Wales play.

Ryan Giggs looks as if he has the backing of the players and it's very important when you start a new job because they buy into what you're trying to do. It has been a seriously impressive performance but there will be tougher tests for this Welsh team.

I think the Republic of Ireland have restored some pride in the second half with the substitutes and with Wales taking their foot off the gas a little bit.

Wales are just passing the ball around the back unpressured. Is unpressured a word?

    Wales 4-1 Republic of Ireland

David Brooks probably should have scored but he takes a little too long. Enda Stevens should not have been able to get across but I don't think the Welshman had the energy to get the shot off.

Left-back Enda Stevens denies Wales a fifth, David Brooks is about to pull the trigger from six yards out but his ex-Sheffield United team-mate dives across the box to block his shot.

Some of the attacking has been a joy. I want to break out into song, 'it's just like watching Brazil.' Making it look so easy.

Don: When will a Roy Keane management involvement ever actually bring something to a team other than tabloid headlines and player unrest?

Bill: There is no excuse in losing to a team like Wales. Almost like no one is coaching.

Wales have been excellent to be fair. Even if the Republic had played well, this would have been difficult

The Irish defence back off David Brooks, who charges forward and then has a shot blocked by Ciaran Clark.

I don't think a fifth goal would flatter Wales.
