Norwich City manager Daniel Farke was far from pleased after his side's home loss to Stoke City.

"We are unbelievably disappointed with the loss. We didn’t deserve it," he said.

“All statistics we dominated. Lots of possession, won more duels.

"The own goal was so unlucky. We could have had a penalty late on.”

Sheffield United took advantage of slip-ups by Leeds and Middlesbrough to go top of the Championship.

Manager Chris Wilder told BBC Radio Sheffield:

"Without being Mystic Meg I thought this might be a bit of a struggle for us, and it was but I believe we got the right result and we're delighted to be top of the division.

"It was a tough afternoon to break them down, we didn't have the usual energy and legs in us.

"I got into them at half time a bit because we needed to raise our levels.

"We were possibly playing in second or third gear and we needed to shift through the gears and I thought we did in the second half."

Plymouth Argyle moved off the bottom of League One after finally registering their first win of the season at the 12th time of asking.

Freddie Ladapo's goal gave them a 1-0 win over AFC Wimbledon - the side that beat them at Wembley in the 2016 League Two play-off final.

"We're delighted," manager Derek Adams told BBC Radio Devon.

"We all know it's been a long time coming and we've been close at times this season but haven't been able to get that victory, but today we did.

"Confidence is a major thing in football. We all know that players have got ability, but you need to be confident and we have been confident, we just haven't been able to execute at times."

    Deserved.

An escape for Blackburn as Danny Graham's clearance goes high and not very handsome, straight onto the head of Bolton's Josh Magennis six yards from goal.

He loops a header over the goalkeeper, but Charlie Mulgrew is in position on the line to prevent the equaliser.

Just to prove how tight this Championship table is this season, Blackburn will climb from 15th to ninth if they hold onto this win.

Still a long way to go, though.

Not much to report since that splendid double save by Blackburn's David Raya a few moments ago.

West Brom moved up to second after coming from a goal down to beat lowly Reading 4-1 at the Hawthorns.

"At half time we felt we could show more signs in the second half and we did that," boss Darren Moore told BBC WM.

"We got the goal early in the second half and it gave us more impetus to go forward. The goal came after that and we ran out worthy winners in the end.

"A slow start, but a definite strong finish."

That save is even better from David Raya! Superb!

The Bolton corner finds the head of Josh Magennis, who powers a header in from six yards, and Raya is there to tip it over the crossbar.

Bolton's best effort so far - Will Buckley cuts off the left side and tries to curl a low effort into the corner, but David Raya is equal to it to turn it around the post for a corner.

Bolton have responded pretty well to conceding that first goal but, as with before Bradley Dack's opener, the final ball is lacking a bit of quality.

  13. Pulis, potatoes and a missed chance to go toppublished at 17:55 British Summer Time 6 October 2018

Ever the one for an honest quote, Middlesbrough boss Tony Pulis pulled no punches after his side's loss at home to Nottingham Forest.

Victory would have sent Boro top, but a 2-0 loss sees them drop to fourth place in the Championship.

"The first 20 minutes we were like a bag of potatoes," he told BBC Tees.

"We were playing on our home ground, a decent crowd and we never looked like we were at the races.

"We weathered their storm in the first 20 minutes.

"But they got the goals, made a couple of changes and the big turning point of the game is Britt's chance.

"I think if Britt's goes in it's a different game, he's six yards out."

Oh, that's a lovely build-up from Blackburn that leads up to the opening goal.

Kasey Palmer and Joe Rothwell combine to set up Harrison Reed. His initial shot is blocked, as is a second from Rothwell, but Bradley Dack is on the spot to fire in the rebound from close range.

Rovers boss Tony Mowbray doesn't look happy with David Wheater's challenge on his midfielder Kasey Palmer that isn't punished by a foul.

Wheater missed the ball completely and caught Palmer on the shin, although it appeared to be more of a glancing blow at second look.

Having said that, it didn't look pretty.
