  1. 'We made a difference to so many people'published at 19:19 British Summer Time 24 September 2018

England manager Gareth Southgate said: "It is a fantastic honour to manage your country. It was an incredible honour to play, and managing was special too. We had a great summer and it was so nice that we made a difference to so many people."

On the tournament: "Your first thought was to get the team through a knockout because we hadn’t won one for 10 years, and we knew if it came to it, we had to win on penalties. The great legacy for these players is that they have won a shootout, and that is positive moving forward."

On the impact in the country: "I hadn’t really felt it until a couple of weeks ago, I went off on holiday after the tournament, but being in London recently showed the power of sport."

Competing for the Best Women's Award are Ada Hegerberg, Dzsenifer Marozsan and Marta but last year's winner, Barcelona’s Lieke Martens, did not even make the final 10 this time!

Hegerberg, scored 53 goals in 32 games last season as Lyon won the Ligue 1 and Champions League double for a third consecutive season.

She also won the 2017 BBC Women's Footballer of the Year.

Germany captain Marozsan also won the Ligue 1 and Champions League double with Lyon and led her country to five wins out of six in Women's World Cup qualifying.

She was named in the Women's Champions League squad of the tournament too.

Marta has made the final three for Fifa's top award for the 13th time in her career and is looking to win for the sixth time.

She led Brazil to the Copa America in April, as they won all seven matches and grabbed 13 goals and six assists as Orlando Pride reached the NWSL play-off semi-finals in the United States.

That earned her a place in the league's team of the year.

The Best FIFA Football Awards always has a top music artist and this year it’s Manchester City fan Noel Gallagher.

The former Oasis brother is already widely involved in football – appearing as a pundit occasionally and striking friendships with some of the best players in the world.

At the 2006 World Cup, Alessandro Del Piero famously labelled the singer as his ‘lucky mascot’, external, with the Italian star saying “the World Cup victory will always be tied to Noel.”

Also performing is English rapper and Youtube sensation Big Shaq.

His first single ‘Mans Not Hot’ amassed over three million global streams. Jeremy Corbyn even referenced him at this year’s Labour party conference.

  9. Ronaldo going for third titlepublished at 19:05 British Summer Time 24 September 2018

Cristiano Ronaldo is hoping to pick up the men's award for a third time.

Ronaldo, Luka Modric and Mohamed Salah are the finalists - with no place for Barcelona forward Lionel Messi.

This is the first year since 2006 that Messi has not been in the final three - then called the Fifa World Player of the Year.

It will also be the first time since 2010 that Ronaldo and Messi have not been the top two in either order.

The final three was named on 3 September following a lengthy voting process which included 25% of votes from the public on online.

Another 25% were voted for by national team coaches, 25% from the national team captains and the final 25% from select media representatives.
