The teams emerge from the tunnel and out onto the pitch as the atmosphere crackles in West Lothian. Gary Holt paces in front of his dugout; Rangers counterpart Steven Gerrard takes a seat.

Livingston head coach Gary Holt: "Go and embrace it, go and enjoy it but work hard because that's what it is, it's hard work.

"It'll be a tough test like every game's been for us. If we focus solely on Rangers and what they're good at, we won't implement our game plan. We won't get at them, we won't have a chance.

"It's being brave to go and play our style of football and get in their faces, go toe-to-toe with your opposite number and if you dominate your one v one, I believe we've got good enough players to create chances, that will score goals.

"It's a phenomenal start from them, but it's only a start."

The last time these two clubs met, it was the West Lothian hosts who triumphed.

Craig Halkett scored the only goal as Livingston toppled a Rangers side that had just won the Scottish Championship.

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard on Sky Sports: "We're well aware of their strengths, they're high up in the league.

"We have to earn the right today, you have to compete. We have to match them and hopefully add quality as well.

"I've picked a strong team who I think can get the job done."

Rangers are yet to win away from home in the Premiership this season.

They were held to draws with late goals by Aberdeen and Motherwell in August then lost to Celtic earlier this month.

Steven Gerrard's only win on the road in Scotland was a League Cup defeat of Kilmarnock.

BBC Sportsound pundit Willie Miller knows a thing or two about defending. Having been a rock in central defence for both club and country [Aberdeen and Scotland] the bold Willie his licking his chops in anticipation of seeing Livingston's backline this afternoon.

Only Hearts have conceded fewer goals in the Premiership this season than Gary Holt's men.

"I'm looking forward to it," purrs Miller on BBC Sportsound. "It's the first opportunity I've had to see Livingston close up. It's extreme to say I don't think any defenders can defend.

"If I'm talking about defenders, it's more full-backs that I look at and one-on-ones... their body positions don't resemble anything I was taught as a young defender many, many years ago.

"But I'm looking forward to it today.

Rapid Vienna have parted company with manager Goran Djuricin before their Europa League meeting with Rangers at Ibrox on Thursday.

Rapid suffered a third league defeat in a row on Saturday against St Polten.

They have taken nine points from nine games so far in the Austrian Bundesliga but won their opening Europa League Group G match against Spartak Moscow.

"It's the right step, no matter how difficult it is and how much it hurts," said managing director Fredy Bickel.
