  2. Goalless in Athenspublished at 18:57 Greenwich Mean Time 27 November 2018

    HT: AEK Athens 0-0 Ajax

Nothing doing in the early kick-off between AEK Athens and Ajax.

The visitors of course could go through to the knock-out stages tonight and they dominated the opening exchanges.

But Matthijs de Ligt has not had his shooting boots on and they've reached half-time all square.

Man Utd v Young Boys (20:00 GMT)

No Paul Pogba for Manchester United, only on the bench alongside Romelu Lukaku.

Big money summer signing Fred gets a start and Antonio Valencia returns, but as Stoney mentioned in the previous post, there is no sign of Alexis Sanchez.

    Full team news to come.

Man Utd v Young Boys (20:00 GMT)

Manchester United are here. On time. Without travel chaos.

After arriving late for the Valencia game and Jose Mourinho having to walk to Old Trafford for the Juventus game, that feels like a mini triumph for United.

Their next task is to score.

If they fail it will be three European home games without a goal for the first time in their history. A goalless draw with Valencia in this campaign was followed by a 1-0 defeat by Juventus, since when United won in Turin.

Should Mourinho's team win tonight and Juventus do the same against Valencia, qualification will be assured.

The rumour is Alexis Sanchez is not going to be involved.

We will find out for certain shortly.

    Breaking

Lyon v Man City (20:00 GMT)

Once again, Oleksandr Zinchenko gets a start for Manchester City in the Champions League and Riyad Mahrez is in the starting XI too.

There was chat that Phil Foden could start but the Englishman is only on the bench.

    Full team news to come.

  6. Hard to look past Citypublished at 18:46 Greenwich Mean Time 27 November 2018

Lyon v Man City (20:00 GMT)

    John Southall
BBC Radio 5 live football reporter in Lyon

    Lyon v Man City

Evening from the Stade de Lyon, an impressive 59,000 capacity stadium on the outskirts of city. The equation is a simple one for Manchester City tonight win the game and win the group. There are plenty of reasons to be hopeful for City.

    -Eight wins on the bounce.

-19 goals in the last 4 games.

    -One defeat in 25 games.

One reason to be wary, that one defeat back in September was against Lyon. You suspect that won’t happen again tonight, Lyon have hardly built on that victory drawing their next three Champions League games and for me it’s hard to look passed City.

One to keep an eye on...

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho says he will "walk" to their Champions League game against Young Boys if there is a repeat of previous traffic issues.

United were fined 15,000 euros (£13,203) for the late kick-off of their match with Valencia at Old Trafford in October.

They also arrived late for their home game against Juventus, which Mourinho walked to.

"The information is, things are better than last time," said Mourinho.

City have had plenty of joy in recent times, though United have found success hard to come by.

But both the blue and red can rejoice together tonight by claiming a Champions League knockout stage place.

Will they be dancing on the streets of Manchester come 10pm?
