The PSG fans up the volume again, with whistles and jeers when the United goalkeepers emerge to warm-up, then manage to get even louder when Gianluigi Buffon appears and runs up to their end, and jump around en masse.

If they are this excited now, then imagine what they will be like when the game starts.

After four successive quarter-final appearances between 2013 and 2016, Paris St-Germain have lost at this stage in each of the last two seasons. In 2017-18 they went down 5-2 on aggregate to Real Madrid (1-3 away, 1-2 home).

Of course, 12 months earlier, they had looked set for the quarter-finals after a 4-0 first-leg defeat of Barcelona at the Parc des Princes, only to go down 6-1 in Spain – a Champions League record comeback.

PSG will target Young down United's right-hand side much the same as most teams have done this season. Responsibility will fall on Matic and Herrera to provide much needed support.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could hardly have done any better in his first 11 games as Manchester United's caretaker manager.

What happens in the next 11 will probably determine whether the 45-year-old Norwegian gets the job of replacing Jose Mourinho full-time.

But off the pitch, he has hit the reset button at Old Trafford, restoring the ethos of Sir Alex Ferguson's trophy-laden time in charge.

In eight short weeks, Solskjaer has wiped out the toxic atmosphere of Mourinho's final few weeks at Old Trafford - and United fans are enjoying going to watch their team again.

Veteran second-choice keeper Antonio Mirante continues, with Robin Olsen still out.

Real Madrid legends Iker Casillas and Pepe both start for Porto. They make two changes from their last game, with Otavio and Fernando replacing Oliver Torres and the suspended Jesus Corona. Porto's main two strikers are both injured.

Zach Kingsbury: Thing is about this game tonight is if Mourinho was still in charge I know we'd just park the bus and get slaughtered. But with Ole, even if we lose, I know we'll take the game to PSG and lose with dignity almost. With pride.

Francis Edwards: Neymar has been a huge miss so far for PSG - Cavani not so much as he has the Higuain syndrome in not able to turn up for big games. Will be close - PSG need a goal or two tonight.

Re Robbie 18.46 11 unbeaten is not a fluke. Run might end tonight but he has managed the team well. Getting the best out of players is all you can ask.

I'm sure everyone has heard the news today - we lost a great.

England's 1966 World Cup-winning goalkeeper Gordon Banks has died aged 81.

Regarded as one of the game's greatest in his position, Banks was named Fifa goalkeeper of the year six times and earned 73 caps for England.

He is perhaps best known for his wonder save from Pele during the 1970 World Cup against Brazil.

Real sense of excitement around Old Trafford - and a level of anticipation that was not in the air when they were originally paired with PSG in the last 16 of the Champions League.

It was made when there was a Jose Mourinho-shaped cloud over Manchester United but now Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has cleared the air and there is expectation they can overcome the French champions, especially with Neymar and Edinson Cavani out injured.

Huge test for United and Solskjaer and what an entry it would be on his CV to get the United job full time if he pulls it off.

The PSG fans have wasted no time packing their corner of Old Trafford - and packing it very noisily.
