I don't think Manchester United have any chance in Paris [in the return leg].

PSG have too much European nous, too much class.

Even though we didn't see Mbappe at his absolute best, he was still devastating.

Goals from Presnel Kimpembe and Kylian Mbappe have put them in a very strong position. Pauk Pogba was sent off for the hosts as well.

PSG boss Thomas Tuchel: "Angel di Maria is very competitive. If you tease him, it does not make him weaker.

"I thought he had a good relationship with the fans. He was a bit nervous and needed to be calmer in the first-half. In the end he did well."

PSG forward Kylian Mbappe: "People have to stop selling fear and being afraid.

"Of course, Neymar is super-important and Cavani is fundamental, but football gets played on the pitch. We showed that tonight. Don't be afraid: we're good."

  8. 'They can scare anyone in the competition'published at 22:45 Greenwich Mean Time 12 February 2019

    Man Utd 0-2 PSG

Former Manchester United midfielder Owen Hargreaves speaking on BT Sport: "That was a big moment for PSG, playing like that while missing two of their best players. Since last season they have added a world-class goalkeeper in Buffon and a master tactician in Tuchel. If they can get Cavani and Neymar fit they can scare anyone in the competition."

Paul Milton: Hang on people, 11 games ago United were mid Premier League. Ole has worked wonders, stunned? No. Proud? Yes. Kimpembe should have been the first player to see red, not scoring the goal.

Too many football fans love to see United lose, bitter that their team will never get close to what United have achieved over the years. Show a bit of support for an English club in Europe. Yes there's a long way to go, but things are a lot better than they were a few months back.

Loving the text commentary. On my way home from a long day at work. It is a reality check for United but we would have competed had Martial and Lingard remained fit. Ole has rejuvenated the morale at the club. But I hope this performance reminded the United board that this team is still work in progress and we need to hire Pochettino asap.

    Man Utd 0-2 PSG

Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera speaking to BT Sport: "The game was tight until the corner. After the first goal everything changed. The game was under control. The game could have finished 0-0 if they didn't score from the corner. They then played counter-attack because they have very quick players.

"I think we lost some pace [when Antony Martial and Jesse Lingard went off injured in the first half] but won some combination with Alexis Sanchez and Juan Mata. We were pressing OK and they were not feeling good with the ball.

"We are all optimistic and positive - we are building something good. Today is going to be a tough night and tomorrow is going to be tough day. We are going to fight for the top four and the FA Cup."

Ricky Lee Everett: Here come the vultures craving the chance to tear into OGS, fact is the referee fails to send off a PSG player for multiple obvious second yellows. And United went complacent for 10-15mins and gifted two goals. PSG were not great tonight; everything went against us tonight

Manchester United manager Ole Gunner Solskjaer to BT Sport: "They had the momentum after the first goal and controlled the game. You could see that we hadn't played at this level for a while and we will have to learn. It was an experience that can go either way, it's not going to be a season defining one, it's one we have to learn from.

Injuries? "You can't say that's a reason, we had quality players to come on but Lingard and Martial give us something and let's hope they are not too serious. They are muscle injuries, we have to wait a couple of days.

"Paul Pogba is trying to get his body across and Dani Alves is clever enough to put his foot in there. Paul wants to shield the ball, he's unlucky.

"Mountains are there to be climbed, you can't lay down and say this is over We will go there, play our game and improve from today.

"Today is a reality check for us."

Ciaran Dudley: Not disappointed with defeat as it was always going to happen at some stage, but the manner of the defeat was pathetic.. Sanchez not fit to wear United number 7, need a plan B when we lose our pace

Rohan: Manchester United are nowhere near Europe's elite at the moment, it's pretty damning. Lots of work to do. PSG outclassed United in every area.

Benjamin Johnson: United are good, not great. This recent run has their supporters overconfident. They’re blaming the refs. There you go, that’s why you lost. No, you were outclassed at home by a club without two of their best players

It's a travesty that Angel di Maria wasn't a great Manchester United player.

United didn't have a Ryan Giggs and I thought ‘at last they have bought someone who fits the philosophy of United’.

He never produced the right performance. I look back and seeing him play tonight and if ever there was a player that they signed that is a Manchester United player, then it was Angel di Maria.

The PSG love in is a little over the top - they never had a shot on target in the first half and Utd matched them. Injuries to Martial and Lingard changed the game, not PSG, the rest is just hot air.

    Jacob

It is a good job that PSG are susceptible to giving away second leg games by quite some margin. United could do a Barcelona to them?
