Dinked straight down the middle, with no power at all. It was a gorgeous little penalty from Aguero and he had figured out that the goalkeeper, all hyped up to save it, was not going to stand in one place.

What a massive relief and City are 4-2 up with the opposition now having to score three.

Man City 0-0 Schalke (agg: 3-2)

    Pat Nevin
Former Chelsea and Scotland winger on BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra

I don't think Bruma gets any of the ball and he was just using his physicality. The referee was absolutely spot on. Bruma was not looking at the ball and Bernardo Silva was not getting the ball so he didn't need to do it.

  7. YELLOW CARDpublished at 20:33 Greenwich Mean Time 12 March 2019

    Pat Nevin

Manchester City do not look like Champions League winners at the moment - they are playing within themselves at the moment. The opposition are staying as deep as possible and that's just really tough to break down.

  13. Postpublished at 20:29 Greenwich Mean Time 12 March 2019

Man City 0-0 Schalke (agg: 3-2)

    Chris Bevan
    BBC Sport at Etihad Stadium

It is not just the away supporters who are in good voice tonight. The City fans have been making plenty of noise themselves and they have all just been out of their seats for a rendition of 'stand up for the champions'.

Whatever the Schalke fans have been singing about tonight, it does not include that particular ditty - the last of their seven Bundesliga titles came in 1958, and they are unlikely to change that this season because they are currently 14th in the table.

  16. CLOSE!published at 20:25 Greenwich Mean Time 12 March 2019

  20. Cautious Schalkepublished at 20:21 Greenwich Mean Time 12 March 2019

Man City 0-0 Schalke (agg: 3-2)

    Pat Nevin
Former Chelsea and Scotland winger on BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra

The longer it goes, Schalke will have to come out and that back five will have to move forward, but when that happens I don't think they will have the quality to then stop City.
