The last time Barcelona lost at home in the Champions League was in May 2013, 31 games ago since Bayern Munich rolled into town and won 3-0.

It was on May 1 though. A good omen for Liverpool?

I think this formation change has thrown the advantage over to Barcelona.

It concerns me because if they'd stuck to their principles, I think they could have caused Barcelona all kinds of problems.

Lots of changes from Klopp. Is it a bit too risky or is he going to pull off a masterclass?

He's not worried. He was literally chilling in his presser yesterday. Name a cooler German.

    I'll wait...

Simon, Stirling: I think this Liverpool team are a nightmare for Barca. Too much pace and intensity. Might need something very special from Messi tonight.

P J Belfast: Liverpool need to approach this match with the mindset of a La Liga team. Barcelona are indeed a great side but they are human and can be got at. Who better than Salah, Mane and Firmino? Yes be careful of Messi but give it a go and anything is possible.

Jurgen Klopp speaking to BT Sport: “That’s how it is with the short periods between the games – you cannot be sure.

“Bobby wants to [play] and the medical department told me ‘yes, it’s good’ but then you have to make sure – I’m not sure if 90 minutes or whatever.

“So he doesn’t have to start, that’s why we start like we start. Bobby is on the bench, that’s good news.

“It’s the same for Trent; it was clear when Joe would be available again that there would be a game and I think today it makes absolute sense in that position.

“For Trent it’s good, he can refresh a little bit, there are important games to come."

Khan Karn: I don’t understand Klopp’s obsession with playing Gomez at RB when he has shown time and time again he’s better at CB. Trent should start over Matip, Liverpool need the legs.

Tsuelong: Emma, the only miss with Firmino is all the people who don’t seem to see him on the bench. His featured record will stand. He will score a goal.

    Barcelona v Liverpool (20:00 BST)

*Another exclusion from the Bingo card!*

There's barely a person out there who isn't looking forward to seeing Virgil van Dijk take on Lionel Messi this evening.

Van Dijk was given a rough time on his last visit to the Nou Camp in 2013 as a 22-year-old Celtic defender.

But he stood out, even in a 6-1 drubbing, and many people believe it was the game which announced Van Dijk to the rest of Europe.

He later signed for Southampton before Liverpool finally got their man in January 2018.

And now, as the Premier League's newly crowned Player's Player, he is preparing to face the greatest player in football history. An easy night, then.

To top it off, star man Virgil van Dijk picked up the PFA Player of the Year award this week, while Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane chase the Golden Boot.

How important will those players prove to be in Barcelona tonight?

Richard: Mark Taylor 18:33 sounds bitter: how is it easier when you can be knocked out in any game? vs UCL where you can draw/lose games and still qualify from the groups?

Ahmed Elbidwy: In reply to Mark Taylor, easier to win yet only Liverpool and Forest won more than one from the British teams?

Kev, Liverpool: How can a knockout cup be easier than league with poor teams giving you the edge, Uefa have changed the rules time and time again so the big teams take part every year. P.s. when Liverpool won their first 4 cups they had to be champions the previous year, not finish 3 or 4 to qualify.

I think Liverpool's full-backs will make the difference, Nikil. If they are restricted because of extra cover needed to provide protection for Messi, Liverpool's attacking play could be affected. It will be interesting to see whether Dembele gets the nod over Coutinho though...

Nikil Patel: The key for me tonight is if Barcelona play Coutinho in a midfield safety role or Dembele in a more attacking fancy role. If it's the latter, Liverpool will possibly score on the counter and be on the score sheet (at least). What do you think Emma?

Mike, London: Think it'll be easy tonight. Big Virg will shut Messi out and their defence won't be able to cope with our front three. Got £50 on 4-0.

    There's always one...

A video went viral on social media showing a Liverpool fan pushing people into water fountains in Barcelona yesterday.

It prompted chief executive Peter Moore to tweet a plea asking fans to act in a "manner that is befitting of LFC".

It's really sad to see but I'm sure we can all agree, there's always a few people which give a fanbase a bad name.

Here's a nice group of supporters who enjoyed themselves properly in Barcelona - living the away day life to the max. Good effort.
