    Barcelona v Liverpool (20:00 BST)

    Darren Fletcher
Former Man Utd midfielder on BBC Radio 5 live

Klopp deserves a lot of credit for how he's moved Liverpool on since selling Philippe Coutinho last year.

He's changed their style and they've become better all-round team.

Tim Mayhew: All the talk about Messi and Coutinho is making me nervous...has everyone forgotten the most dangerous player ever to play for Liverpool....one Luis Suarez... have to stop him too

JB, Cornwall: Parking the bus...OR...reinforcing a defence against an in form game-changer. Liverpool are not ignoring the lethal striking potential of Lionel Messi while maintaining a tried and tested strike force of their own

    Barcelona v Liverpool (20:00 BST)

    Darren Fletcher

I thought Liverpool would be positive, high up the pitch and play their usual way.

It's not the same Barcelona team as the one that would play round you. You can cause them lots of problems with intense pressure. It's risky but the rewards are massive.

It looks like Klopp is playing it a bit safer and is relying on winning the game at Anfield.

Chris Pybus: Rival expert fans saying we are parking the bus really don't understand why Keita is starting do they. Gomez is also no slouch, he still gets up the line

Christopher Walker: Gomez at RB is right decision for 1st leg with it being away. Liverpool need to keep it solid and not be caught with both FB up the pitch and space for Messi to exploit.

  7. Who's watching Alba?published at 19:44 British Summer Time 1 May 2019

    Barcelona v Liverpool (20:00 BST)

    Darren Fletcher
Former Man Utd midfielder on BBC Radio 5 live

Who will mark Jordi Alba? The best thing is to go full-back to full-back which means someone has to take Philippe Coutinho when he comes inside and Joe Gomez can concentrate on Alba.

What usually happens is that the fullback will follow Coutinho and it ends up as the winger’s job to chase Alba back.

James Milner will cover more distance than anyone else and he'll track Alba all the way tonight. That's where most of Barcelona's attacking comes from.

  8. 'Excited to have the opportunity'published at 19:42 British Summer Time 1 May 2019

    Liverpool

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp: "It will be so difficult, but I couldn't be more excited to have the opportunity.

"We can feel completely free to play our game. It is a brilliant team here at Barcelona.

"I would say a draw would not be the worst result in the world, not that we go for it, but it would be OK."

    Barcelona v Liverpool (20:00 BST)

    Robbie Savage
Ex-Leicester City & Wales midfielder on BBC Radio 5 live in the Nou Camp

Gomez is a better defender than Alexander-Arnold. Lately, he's been struggling in one-on-one situations. He'll probably start the second leg but for tonight Gomez is a positive for them defensively.

The surprise for me is that Henderson is not in. If I was him, I'd be very disappointed as he's been in such great form.

I'd have loved to see Liverpool play their 4-3-3 tonight but, with this team, can they open up the Barcelona defence?

Frank, Wirral: Not parking the bus ! Firmino not fit so Keita rather than Henderson is an attacking option

Bill: Really not confident in this team selection tonight, seen Gomez be twisted inside out before playing right back and tonight he's got that Barca attack... hope I'm wrong.

Rob Schofield: If it comes off, Klopp deserves A LOT of credit, but when has playing cautious ever suited his Liverpool? Messi merits man-marking, Pep's Barcelona needed to be contained. Not sure this team does. Blitzing a more natural approach?

    Barcelona v Liverpool (20:00 BST)

    Liverpool

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp: "Two years ago it was a big thing for a club just to qualify for the Champions League. Now it's our second time in a row in the semi-finals so that's big.

"I know people say we have become better in the couple of years and Barcelona aren't the same Barcelona as with Xavi and Iniesta.

"But it's a brilliant team here, and it's our second year in contention. Barcelona have been here for nearly 20 years so it will be so difficult.

"So many people have come to Barcelona and had a plan, and said 'if you do this, if you do that', and in the end they got a proper knock."

    Barcelona v Liverpool (20:00 BST)

Simon Gleave, head of sports analysis, Gracenote:

Liverpool's chance of winning the Champions League has gradually increased as the favourites have fallen by the wayside. The Reds are the fourth best team in Europe according to the Euro Club Index , externalbut must now play the only higher-ranked team left in the competition.

Barcelona are the favourites to reach the final with around twice as much chance as Liverpool of doing so. Liverpool have 32% chance of reaching the Champions League final for the second year in succession.

    Guillem Balague

Arthur has been losing possession and seems a bit shy when he’s got the ball. Arturo Vidal is a man for the big games and that’s why he’s been selected.

Barcelona have not faced a team with the intensity and pace of Liverpool this season.

But Liverpool have not faced a team like Barcelona this season either and they’ve felt they need to change their team to face them.

  20. 'Following the best player in history'published at 19:19 British Summer Time 1 May 2019

    Barcelona v Liverpool (20:00 BST)

Ivan Rakitic says Barcelona will follow "the best player in history" to any title he wants.

Argentine forward Lionel Messi stood on the pitch at the start of the season and told supporters he would help to bring "that beautiful cup back to Nou Camp" after several years of disappointment in the Champions League.

"Leo has been a La Liga champion 10 times in 15 years and, of course, after seeing him lift the [La Liga] cup with such happiness, that motivates everyone," said Rakitic.

"If Leo is happy to win every title, it makes us even more eager too. We know we're Barca, we have to give everything and following the best player in history gives us more confidence to do that."
