Meet Lin and Jean, over in New York from Crosby, Liverpool.

Jean, on the right, has two sons in Madrid, one with a ticket and one on the hunt.

They’ve had to reserve a table in the bar such is demand and they’re generally loving every minute of the buzz.

I expected this bar to be packed with New Yorkers but there are Liverpudlians everywhere.

I’ve asked Jean who wins and she says she’s had two omens. One, a busker playing You’ll Never Walk Alone on the subway, another, spotting this Mo Salah mural from an open top bus.

Will Salah be on an open top bus after today?

BBC Sport chief football writer in Madrid

In the end the temptation was too much to resist - Harry Kane starts the Champions League final for Spurs.

Kane has been out since 9 April when he sustained an ankle injury in the quarter-final against Manchester City but a three-week gap between the end of the Premier League season and this final has opened the window of recovery.

Big disappointment for Lucas Moura and a huge call from Mauricio Pochettino.

Harry Kane speaking to Glenn Hoddle on BT Sport on the eve of the final: "The ankle is good. It’s been seven or so weeks of hard work. I’m back training with the team.

"The semi-final was an amazing game. I couldn’t believe it happened. Just to be there, the emotions took over. I wanted to be there and support them and pass my experience on to anyone that needed it.

"It’s amazing that we’re here but we might not get another chance to lift the Champions League trophy so we’re here to win the game.

"There’ll be a lot of talking and thinking but I’m sure that everyone is looking forward to getting out there to play."

Groundstaff are out and the sprinklers are on all over Wanda Metropolitano - the pitch looks perfect but it is getting a real hosing down.

No surprises in the Liverpool team. Roberto Firmino is fit and Jurgen Klopp's tried and trusted midfield trio of captain Jordan Henderson, Gini Wijnaldum and Fabinho gets the nod.

Atmosphere building nicely after an intense and celebratory build-up in Madrid city centre.

The big news is obviously Harry Kane in for Lucas Moura. The striker has been out since 9 April with ligament damage, 54 days ago.

Dele Alli and Jan Vertonghen recovered from knocks as expected. Danny Rose, Harry Winks and Son Heung-min all come in from the team who drew against Everton on the final day.

Having scored Liverpool's goal against Real Madrid last year, Sadio Mane could become the first player to score in back-to-back European Cup/Champions League finals since Franz Roth with Bayern Munich in 1975 and 1976.

He would be the eighth player to score in more than one Champions League final, after Gareth Bale, Samuel Eto'o, Lionel Messi, Sergio Ramos, Raul, Mario Mandzukic and Cristiano Ronaldo, who is the only player to find the net in three.

In a bar in Ibiza went on an all inclusive on my tod after my divorce. Not on my own now. Loads of new Liverpool (and Tottenham) friends- though that may be a loose term at 12 local time.

    Guillem Balague
Spanish football journalist on BBC Radio 5 live

Would Mauricio Pochettino decide to leave Tottenham if he leads the club to Champions League glory?

Winning does not influence how Pochettino feels about the job.

My interpretation is that he will want to start project number two at Spurs.

I don't think he's saying he is going to go - he is saying help me here. It was a message to everybody, that there are going to be big changes.

He's taken them as far as he can, next he must start over.

Liverpool name the exact starting XI you would expect.

Roberto Firmino starts after four games out with a muscle injury.

Firmino for Divock Origi is the only change from the team who beat Wolves on the final day of the Premier League season.

Naby Keita had already been ruled out through injury.

Glenn Hoddle on BT Sport raves about the job Mauricio Pochettino has done this year...

The fact we are in the final after not spending a penny this year is amazing. I like the way he has a mixture of young players and more experienced ones, and if there is a pot of gold next year he will add to that.

  19. 'Spurs win would keep Poch'published at 18:40 British Summer Time 1 June 2019

    Tottenham v Liverpool (20:00 BST)

    Mark Lawrenson
    Ex-Liverpool defender

I don't think the result makes any difference to Liverpool going forward, because I think they will still attract top players because of their manager, because they are in the Champions League and because they can pay the wages. Players look at Liverpool now and go: 'Wow, what a good team to play for.'

But it would stop people hitting Jurgen Klopp with the stick that he has been in charge of Liverpool since October 2015 and has not won anything yet.

People say the same about Mauricio Pochettino too, but what he has achieved in five years as Spurs boss is also very impressive. The only difference with Klopp's situation is that maybe Spurs need him to win a trophy with them to stop him from clearing off.

The players have been out to check on the pitch.

    Yep, it's there.

The excitement is building in Madrid and I'm sure wherever you are too. Please be a good game!
