Liverpool have won five European Cups/Champions Leagues, most recently back in 2005 when they produced the miracle of Istanbul.

They have lost two finals since, mind, to AC Milan in 2007 and to Gareth Bale's Real Madrid 12 months ago.

No team has won it just six times so a win tonight would put Liverpool in third on the overall list behind Real (13) and Milan (seven).

This is Tottenham's first Champions League or European Cup final.

They have only had five seasons in the premier continental cup, their best run before this season was a surge to the semis in 1962, when eventual winners Benfica won 4-3 on aggregate.

    Beautiful, isn't it?

This is the fifth European Cup final to take place in Madrid, after those of 1957, 1969, 1980 and 2010 – all of which were played at Real Madrid's Santiago Bernabeu home – and the eighth in Spain.

I was at the one in 2010!

My flight, hostel and match ticket cost under £100 - all together. A better time.
