  1. CLOSE!published at 85 mins

    Chelsea 2-0 Dynamo Kiev

Well that would have changed things! Out of nothing, the visitors go close! It's a fine ball fizzed in from the right by Denys Garmash, Sidcley is free and offside at the near post but his header flies right across goal.

Moments later Kepa, a virtual spectator all night, comes for a cross and doesn't gather it in, he gets away with it though.

John: Why didn't Sarri take off either Willian or Pedro earlier? That would have given Hudson-Odoi more playing time and would keep Willian or Pedro fresh for the next fixture? The coach absolutely baffles me

  3. CLOSE!published at 83 mins

    Chelsea 2-0 Dynamo Kiev

Almost a wonderful third! Ruben Loftus-Cheek drives from midfield so well, he gallops over halfway, Kiev can't live with him. He plays a lovely pass out wide to Pedro, who feeds it back into the run of the midfielder but he's always stretching to control his shot and he ends up clubbing it over.

Great ball spread out wide again from David Luiz, Marcos Alonso takes on a shot from a tight angle but it's wide.

Willian, scorer of that superb second, comes off and Callum Hudson-Odoi gets a hero's reception as he comes on.

Just don't concede an away goal. That will be priority one now as Callum Hudson-Odoi is readied to come on.

It was perfect, that free-kick. Nothing Dynamo Kiev could do about it.

Tonight is Willian's 100th game in European competition by the way. He's 30.

Must be a great feeling to be able to do that. One-and-a-half steps to the ball, whipped flat over the wall and right into the top corner. Bosh.

If I could do that I'd still be playing Sunday League into my 50s. Demanding every dead ball.

Peter Shields: Callum Hudson-Odoi or Hazard on and with half an hour to go Chelsea could get three .... I struggle to understand this manager - totally baffling to me

Two-nil is much more comfortable but it still won't be all over before the second leg.

Brilliant! Absolutely perfect from Willian. Free-kick, up over the wall, top corner. Superb.

Goalkeeper Denys Boyko is furious with his wall, he's gesturing that they didn't jump but they did...

I am loathe to talk about it but no, N'Golo Kante is not playing in the deepest role in the Chelsea midfield. He's playing where he always has this season.

Kiev now win a free-kick in a decent spot. Can they put a massive away-goal shaped cat amongst the pigeons?

    Nope.

Callum Hudson-Odoi and Ruben Loftus-Cheek are both warming up for Chelsea, we are having a particularly heavy 'Sarri-ball' phase of the game here. Pass, pass, pass, pass, pass repeat.
