That's your lot folks. Put it this way - if you're not metaphorically stuffed with football from what you've been treated to today - then you're a better person than me.

We saw derby drama in South Yorkshire as Rotherham nicked a point from Sheffield United, Norwich whacked four past Swansea, and Blackburn suffered the same from Preston.

Then, Brentford and Boro played out a proper close-run thriller to finish.

Don't tell me you want more? How about a bit of Sunday action? Hands up if you fancy it? Ezri Konsa and Jordan Hugill do...

A big slab of second city derby action. Aston Villa versus Birmingham. Kicks off at 12:00. We'll be here from 11:30 GMT. You bring the crisps.

Until then, rest up, take it easy. Recharge. Good night.

It's always great to score in front of the Middlesbrough fans, especially in an away game. I can only thank them for coming out in full force. We were brilliant tonight. We're quite defensive so you have to take the chances when they come. To get a goal was brilliant.

It was massive. It's one of the toughest places to come in the league, it has been for the last couple of years, so to get a win we really had to dig in and grind. It's a big three points.

Middlesbrough go back into the top two with this victory, secured by goals from Jordan Hugill and Marcus Tavernier, and not even a consolation for Alan Judge could haul Brentford back into the match.

Tony Pulis' side were strong and got chances which they took, and then had the defensive mettle to hold firm as the home side pushed.

Thomas Frank's miserable run continues, again a narrow defeat and again so many positives. But the results tell a tough tale of Brentford's recent plight.

It's been brave from the Bees, but Middlesbrough are going to snare the points here...

Having really tested Darren Randolph before with a firecracker of an effort from the edge of the box, Josh Dasilva seemed to have the bright lights of glory in his eyes as he smacked a shot high and wide over the top.

Leaning back a little too much. Goal kick.

    Brentford desperate now.

Boro trying to waste time as discreetly as possible. Brentford have sense of urgency.

They just cannot find a way through. Time against them.

It's absolute defence from the Teessiders.

How did Lewis Wing miss that?! Oh my word.

George Saville did the hard work, robbing Alan Judge and cutting the ball back to the edge of the box where Wing was waiting.

Against Palace, he buried his shot. This one troubled the corner flag.

    Danny Ayala is on.

    Four minutes of added time.

Interestingly, Middlesbrough youngster Lewis Wing, who scored a belter in the EFL Cup versus Palace, has come on for Stewart Downing.

    Daniel Ayala has to wait.

    Reaction: Preston 4-1 Blackburn

Having seen his side well-beaten by local rivals Preston, Blackburn manager Tony Mowbray said: "Much of our defending was uncharacteristic today.

"There were also some individual errors and collectively we played too deep and invited trouble.

"Then at 3-1 we have a perfectly good goal ruled out for offside against Bradley Dack, who is clearly onside and that is frustrating.

"But let's not look too deeply at this today, we lost 4-1 to a rival, we know that we have to be better than this in the upcoming games and it is as simple as that."

What a hit from Josh Dasilva! Wow. The Brentford midfielder raced forward, before letting fly from about 20 yards out, bending away to the far post but Darren Randolph again proved his mettle by palming it away. Superb shot, equally the save.

The corner came to nothing. It's more pressure though.

Daniel Ayala - the big centre-half - is being readied to shore up the back for Boro. Moses Odubajo coming off for Brentford while Rico Henry is coming on, having been out for a while through injury.

Credit to Brentford, they could easily have been brushed aside on conceding the second and it looked as though they might for a moment but they've steeled themselves since and look a threat coming forward.

    Emiliano Marcondes looks sharp.

Boro have had further chances to add to their lead, but Stewart Downing's balls in have been dealt with.

Alan Judge hammers a shot high over the crossbar for Brentford, as they press again.

Boro have brought George Saville on to try to settle things down in midfield. He's a calming influence.

    Mo Besic makes way.

  14. CLOSE!published at 78 mins

    Brentford 1-2 Middlesbrough

    Brentford go close again...

Sergi Canos is played in on the edge of the box, as Boro switch off, and it opens up all of sudden.

However, the Spaniard rushes his shot, low to the right and Darren Randolph just dives to save.

    Alan Judge

Best passage of play for Brentford and they eventually profit.

Emiliano Marcondes continues to threaten, shoots but it riccochets out for a corner.

Brentford go short to Alan Judge, who picks it up on the apex of the penalty area, left side and sends a searing drive beyond Darren Randolph to reduce arrears. Scorching.

    Game on.

    Brentford 0-2 Middlesbrough

Boro look really slick on the break, turning on the turbo to slip foward. Jordan Hugill tried to nod the deep cross back into the mix but can't find a teammate.

Then, Brentford rip forward but Sergi Canos' shot was saved.

Stewart Downing and Chris Mepham have a little 'tet-a-tet' down in the Brentford left full-back position. The Boro winger gets a shove from the Brentford defender.

Brentford come forward and get a corner. Again, Boro stack the box and then clear the resulting threat...

  18. CLOSE!published at 69 mins

    Brentford 0-2 Middlesbrough

That was what tabloid journos would call a 'gilt-edged chance', as Brentford striker Neal Maupay gets a free header but steers it right at Darren Randolph. You want him to bury that. It was a peach.

Good positioning or a poor finish. You be the judge.

    Brentford 0-2 Middlesbrough

Emiliano Marcondes gets the ball to do that weird 'carrier-bag' style swing in the air and Darren Randolph fumbles, cueing a bit of ding-dong around the Boro goal.

Then he finds Lewis McLeod whose shot loops up and away for a corner. Nico Yennaris' shot is blocked. Boro clear.

Better from Brentford, who have that desire back again.

    Brentford 0-2 Middlesbrough

Emiliano Marcondes is on for Brentford to replace Josh McEachran.

Brentford throwing players forward, they have to.

Boro just have that extra spring in their step, that next level of enthusiasm that two quick goals bring.

Mind you, free-kick for the Bees in a promising position.
