    Brentford 0-0 Middlesbrough

Aden Flint roars onto the free-kick to the back post, and it sails wide of the upright to the relief of Daniel Bentley and the Bees faithful.

However, it is a warning Brentford don't seem to be heeding right now. That's at least the third set-piece that Boro have dominated the aerial ball.

    Brentford 0-0 Middlesbrough

Henrik Dalsgaard has just given away a daft free-kick on the edge of the box, dragging back Marcus Tavernier.

Brentford now have a free-kick to defend. It's a weak spot...

After seeing his side come from behind against Sheffield Wednesday, Derby County manager Frank Lampard told BBC Radio Derby: "We weren't quite at our best but we got a result, which is what we're going to need to do at times.

"The first 20 minutes were terrible. We were slow, we were passive. Harry's goal settled us down, it gave us a bit more drive in our game. Then we were a bit quicker and we started to create a few chances.

"They went direct at times, we had to compete and I was pleased with how we dealt with balls coming into our box."

Is it me or has one of the Brentford players nipped off to the loo? Sure I saw him hop the advertising hordings and run down to the concourse...

Anyway, it's still 0-0. Brentford had a corner which came to nowt.

    Brentford 0-0 Middlesbrough

Having been under the pump, Boro have now forced a couple of corners at the other end.

Free header in the box from Stewart Downing's corner as he arrived in the box for Danny Batth but it's to no avail.

  6. GREAT SAVE!published at 30 mins

    Brentford 0-0 Middlesbrough

Moses Odubajo exchanged passes with Neal Maupay and then whizzed a shot toward goal which Darren Randolph had to tip over. Bent in from the edge of the box and a deceptive one.

Beautiful effort. Randolph does brilliantly to deal with it.

Sergi Canos pounced as the free-kick dribbled to him, but his deflected shot does not result in the corner as the referee John Brooks didn't spot it.

Bees are growing in influence now.

Then Jordan Hugill and Brentford's Chris Mepham have a 'tussle'. Swinging arm. Think the striker is going in the book. He is. Booking for Hugill - the Teessider who supports Boro.

Mo Besic wanted too long to choose his pass, and the ball is snipped away from him - allowing Sergi Canos to flood forward with the sphere at his feet.

However, the little Bosnian midfielder hares after the pacy Spaniard, and takes one for the team by scything him down. No booking though.

George Friend drags down Canos shortly after. Another free-kick. More dangerous though this one...

  9. CLOSE!published at 24 mins

    Brentford 0-0 Middlesbrough

Jordan Hugill is played in behind the Brentford defence, and the big front man lumbered towards goal looking for a Middlesbrough opener.

He's a dangerous forward but one-on-one finishing perhaps not his strongest suit, as Daniel Bentley gathers up around his facial area as the West Ham loanee drilled straight at him.

  10. Postpublished at 22 mins

    Brentford 0-0 Middlesbrough

Middlesbrough are extremely well drilled. It's almost mechanical the way slide into position when defending. Military precision. Not surprising really given they spent the international break grafting at RAF Leeming.

Brentford are getting a bit frustrated at times, pushing passes, forcing things. That's what Boro will thrive on.

That said, great move down the left by Brentford causes some problems but again, no genuine threat to the goal.

  11. Postpublished at 19 mins

    Brentford 0-0 Middlesbrough

Both teams have shown plenty of defensive desire, high pressing and squeezing in midfield.

Subsequently, the midfielders from both teams have lacked a bit of composure, a bit of quality.

It needs someone to take control and say - 'I'm bossing this midfield.'

Josh McEachran - once a Boro loanee - tries to clip a ball down the middle over the top of the Teessiders' defence but that's meat and drink for Boro.

Middlesbrough in reply try to release Marcus Tavernier down the left but the ball squeaks away from him. Then we see just how precarious Brentford's football can be as they look to play out from the back and Ezri Konsa has his keeper Daniel Bentley scrambling to stop his backpass sailing in.

He got an icy glare in return.

  13. Postpublished at 12 mins

    Brentford 0-0 Middlesbrough

Superb cross by George Friend is curled into the Bees box, but the home side do enough to hook it away. Jordan Hugill was lurking and he's a big boy.

At the other end, another raking pass gets Brentford in on the left but it comes to an end when Alan Judge goes shoulder to shoulder, 50/50 with an opponent but referee called free-kick.

  14. Postpublished at 10 mins

    Brentford 0-0 Middlesbrough

Lewis McLeod unfurled a beautiful crossfielder to Sergi Canos wide right, but his first-time ball to Neal Maupay was mopped up smartly by the Teessiders' defence.

Brentford showing plenty of endeavour, but you need to work hard to break down Middlesbrough's defensive.

Diagonals in behind the full-back look like they're the main gameplan right now.

  15. Postpublished at 7 mins

    Brentford 0-0 Middlesbrough

Really lively start to this one.

Boro defender George Friend unceremoniously robbed Bees forward Sergi Canos of the ball, prompting the Spaniard to tumble to the deck. Friend then strode into the midfield, before passing blindly to Neal Maupay.

He fudged the subsequent ball and Boro get away with it. Friend certainly showing benevolence to Brentford so far...

Neal Maupay ties up his marker with a piece of skill, beautiful.

The response is am arm in the chops and he sinks to the turf. Free-kick.

Brentford know they're in a game here. Happy to stroke it around and tempt Boro out of their excellent defensive shape.

  17. Postpublished at 3 mins

    Brentford 0-0 Middlesbrough

Middlesbrough are targeting wide areas early in this encounter, and most notably getting balls into the box with regularity.

Mo Besic picked the ball up 30 yards out and headed for goal, got a shot away but it was deflected.

Corner... as it came in it fell to big Aden Flint, but he swiped it up and over the top of the bar.

  18. Postpublished at 2 mins

    Brentford 0-0 Middlesbrough

After Middlesbrough lose possession around halfway, Brentford seep forward at pace.

Neal Maupay played it out to Sergi Canos on the right side, but he was robbed at the expense of a throw-in.

Nico Yennaris could not make the most of subsequent possession and Boro get the goal kick.

  19. KICK-OFFpublished at 1 min

    Brentford 0-0 Middlesbrough

After the emotion and the outpouring of grief which was the minute's applause, now both teams have to reset and go forth in search of a win.

Huddles are just that bit tighter, the encouragement that bit ramped up.

    We're under way.

Cardiac Risk in the Young are the Rowan family's chosen charity by the way. Robert died of heart failure.

As previously mentioned, there is a tribute to Robert Rowan, the technical director who died age 28.

It becomes a minute's applause, fitting given the wonderful tributes about Robert's character.
