Bingo. One follows another, and Brentford's brittle confidence is shredded completely by a now rampant Boro.

Throw-in on the right and the ball finds Dael Fry, he sweeps in the perfect cross, dipping at just the right moment for Marcus Tavernier to swoop between two defenders and direct with his head beyond Daniel Bentley.

Two-nil. Tough to come back from that body blow.

  2. Postpublished at 60 mins

    Brentford 0-1 Middlesbrough

Almost an immediate response as Lewis McLeod slung a shot at goal, saved easily by Darren Randolph, and then Neal Maupay smashed into the side netting.

At the other end, Jordan Hugill came close to a second, released right side of the box, chopped back inside but the bravery of Daniel Bentley denied him.

Brentford have to come out and play now. They've won once in 11 games.

  3. goal

    Jordan Hugill

Love to say I called it... is there a shade of offside? Hmmmm.

Either way, Brentford gave the ball away at the back, Dael Fry crabbed across field and seemed to be going nowhere but the ball was eventually worked to Mo Besic.

The little Bosnian clipped the ball into the box diagonally, perfectly tracking the run of Jonny Howson... he couldn't get the shot away but slipped it to Jordan Hugill, who couldn't miss.

    Breakthrough and how typical?

  4. 'To improve you have to go through setbacks'published at 18:45 Greenwich Mean Time 24 November 2018

    Reaction: Swansea 1-4 Norwich

Swansea v NorwichImage source, Rex Features

Swansea have endured an inconsistent start to the season but suffered their worst result yet under Graham Potter today, losing 4-1 at home to Norwich.

“To improve you have to have a bit of suffering and go through setbacks and it’s how we respond as a group and as a team," said Potter.

“We will find out about that. There’s no time for us to feel sorry for ourselves, we have a big game and a tough game coming up in midweek.

“It was a tough afternoon. The scoreline makes it an uncomfortable afternoon for us.

“All credit to Norwich, over the course of the game they deserved to win, they were the better team and attacked and defended well.

    Brentford 0-0 Middlesbrough

Just noticed George Friend is wearing one of those cheekbone masks, of which I can't get the image of Gazza wearing in about 1993 from my mind.

Meanwhile, Brentford continue to play the ball around the Boro box but each time there's a leg or a head or what have you to turn it to safety.

You can just see the counter-attack goal coming, if Brentford don't take a chance, or at least make a genuine one.

    Brentford 0-0 Middlesbrough

Brentford starting to settle into another spell of defence versus attack, but once again, Boro are set-up brilliantly to contain.

Sergi Canos rattles a couple of efforts into opposition bodies, but again Darren Randolph can watch from behind his 'white curtain'.

More pressure from the Bees, but Boro mop up and even win a free-kick when Aden Flint tumbles under pressure from Alan Judge. Smart from the visitors.

    Brentford 0-0 Middlesbrough

Neal Maupay gets a gentle press of Aden Flint's hand in his face, but reacts as though former Kangaroos centre Mal Meninga had put his steam-hammer fend.

Drops to the deck. Yellow card for the Boro man... harsh that. Free-kick. Comes to nothing, Daniel Bentley ends up with the ball.

Brentford happy to chance their arm early doors with a slide rule ball seeking Neal Maupay, but Boro smother it.

George Friend does a passable impression of Stuart Pearce in his pomp as he streaks down the left but doesn't get to the ball in time.

It's fluid, that's for sure. Boro free-kick... Jordan Hugill connects but it loops up and over.

  9. KICK-OFFpublished at 45 mins

    Brentford 0-0 Middlesbrough

    "WOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH, WE'RE HALFWAY THERE!"

Bit of Bon Jovi for you.

We are half way there, who can take their chance in the second half?

John Brooks shrills on his whistle and we're back under way.

Reaction: Hull City 0-2 Nott'm Forest

Having seen his side lose to Nottingham Forest to remain in the bottom three, Hull boss Nigel Adkins wasn't a happy bunny.

"We've gifted them the opportunity to win the game and they have gone and capitalised on that," he said.

"It's very frustrating. It's another shocking goal from an individual mistake and then they get a deflection (for the second goal).

"I was very disappointed with our final half (an hour) - we were nowhere near where we need to be - but you've got to give Forest credit as they passed the ball well."

    Reaction: Leeds 2-0 Bristol City

    Andreas WeimannImage source, Rex Features

After seeing his side lose 2-0 away to Leeds, Bristol City head coach Lee Johnson said the game changed after Josh Brownhill's sending off.

“I thought they were lucky today," he said. "I thought they got away with it. We were the side who looked like going on to win the game until the red card.

“The referee took the easy decision in front of a big crowd. The referee wants to run the show these days.

”There were decisions that we didn’t get but I don’t care about the refs because they do it to us every week.

“We have had some poor refs the last few weeks."

    Brentford 0-0 Middlesbrough

Tony Pulis might well be the happier of the two bosses as they head down the tunnel to 'greet' their teams in the dressing rooms and the respite of warmth.

Middlesbrough have been the archetypal 'away team', and why not? They have defended stoutly, tried to attack when the opportunity presents itself and are dangerous from set-pieces.

Brentford have dominated possession, which is fair dues as that's their method, their style. But when it comes to genuine, clear cut chances - I can only think of Moses Odubajo's swinging shot which brought Darren Randolph out of his relative slumber.

Nil-nil, but not a bore-draw in my humble opinion. Lots of snapping in midfield. Still want more quality though.

  16. 'We're keeping our feet on the ground'published at 18:19 Greenwich Mean Time 24 November 2018

    Reaction: Swansea 1-4 Norwich

    Swansea v NorwichImage source, PA

Norwich City manager Daniel Farke played down his side's title hopes despite a clinical win at Swansea City.

"There are many other clubs with much bigger possibilities (of winning the title)," he told BBC Radio Norfolk.

"We have such a young squad. We're keeping our feet on the ground.

"When you are the league leaders, everyone is more greedy to be successful against you. Swansea were highly motivated today but we had a good answer."

    Brentford 0-0 Middlesbrough

Brentford handed possession in the Boro box, and Neal Maupay does enough to win the corner...

Sails across the 18-yard box, Brentford reload through Josh McEachran but Henrik Dalsgaard is off the pace and it trickles out for a goal-kick.

    Brentford 0-0 Middlesbrough

Brentford look at their most dangerous when they get Alan Judge on the ball. The little Republic of Ireland international has plenty of class and craft.

His angled reverse pass a moment ago almost got Brentford in behind the Boro defence.

Boro try to put Jordan Hugill away again, but the Bees offside trap was well timed.

    It's getting scrappy.

Daniel Bentley made a real howler of his clearance from the Brentford penalty area, slinging the ball straight to Stewart Downing.

Perhaps out of sheer shock and awe, the former England international's first touch wasn't even Sunday league, handing possession straight back to Brentford.

Must do better. I was expecting a Ronnie Boyce, first-time bang past the keeper there. (Look it up on YouTube - great excitable Barry Davies comms on it)
