West Brom cruised to a 4-0 win at Rotherham to keep up their pursuit of the Championship's top two.

Boss Darren Moore praised on-loan striker Dwight Gayle after his hat-trick took his tally for the season to 13.

"He is a potent striker which his record shows. He illustrated why we want him at the football club and we are pleased to have him here," Moore said.

"His energy, his enthusiasm for the game, his character - we are delighted to have him.

"He scores goals but he does tremendous work for the team and he is a joy to work with.

"We have not even spoken about it (signing him). We have got him here, we are just focusing on the short term. We are at the half way point of the season, there is still a lot of football to be played."

    Hull 0-1 Swansea

    Now, now.

Tempers have flared between these two sides and there's some shoving after a challenge for the ball, which ultimately results in Fraizer Campbell pushing the face of Mike van der Hoorn and the Hull striker goes into the book.

    Hull 0-1 Swansea

Swansea have had yet another chance to double their advantage just now.

Connor Roberts plays through to Wayne Routledge who, from an acute angle, played a low shot which rolled just wide of the left-hand upright.

Graham Potter will be hoping these missed chances don't come back to haunt them should Hull find a breakthrough soon.

Nottingham Forest fell to a first ever home defeat by QPR.

The result leaves the Reds three points outside the play-offs and boss Aitor Karanka was unhappy with how his side approached the game.

"We need to forget this as soon as possible but also, at the same time, to know that if we continue in this way it will be impossible to win games," he said.

"We had intensity at Derby and it's difficult to understand. The players should be committed, they should be supporting each other, but today we didn't see that.

"If we go in this way I do not like it at all. We looked like we had a mid-table team mentality. We need to go home and think about this because if we continue like this it will be difficult.

"I think we started the game thinking it was a friendly or a training session. We didn't approach the game in the way we had to."

At the other end, Connor Roberts fires in a ball towards Barrie McKay who's in acres of space and unmarked in the Hull box.

However, his delivery has too much weight on it and it flies out and away from him.

    Hull 0-1 Swansea

Kamil Grosicki does well on the left flank as he races to try to work a ball into the Swansea City box.

Unfortunately for the Hull winger, Mike van der Hoorn is similarly pacey and forces a corner which the hosts go on to squander.

So, who is the new man at Reading?

Portuguese Jose Manuel Gomes, 48, has worked as assistant manager at FC Porto and Spanish side Malaga.

He's had spells coaching in Saudi Arabia and won the Saudi Super Cup in 2016 with Al Ahli.

Gomes led Rio Ave to fifth place in the Portuguese top flight in 2017-18 but they were knocked out of the Europa League in the second qualifying round by Polish side Jagiellonia.

His first game in charge of the Royals will be Wednesday's trip to fellow strugglers Millwall.

  19. Postpublished at 33 mins

    Hull 0-1 Swansea

Connor Roberts tees up Nathan Dyer to shoot on goal once more, this time on the end of a lovely low cross into the box, but the Swansea winger curls high and wide.

Wilfried Bony's early goal aside, this match has lacked quality.

Nathan Dyer is the latest Swansea player to try his luck in front of goal, this time with a long range drive, but it sails well wide of the mark.
