Game. On. Substitute Jack Clarke scores a cracking goal for Leeds!

The 18-year-old goes on a fine run, coming in from the left flank, and is given space to lash home across goal from inside the area. A fine individual effort.

Will McCloy: As a lifelong Norwich fan I also want to win the league but stay in the championship. Why bother going into a league where we need to bankrupt ourselves just to have the privilege of being spanked every week by a bunch of overpaid prima donnas?

A theme appears to be developing here. Do you agree or disagree with Will and Eyorrs [14:25] folks?

It’s a happy home crowd at Villa Park as the hosts look like they’re going to thwart Leeds’ hopes of returning to the top.

Whatever they might say afterwards, Leeds must have been disrupted by the late loss of Barry Douglas during the warm-up.

Villa Park has not been a happy ground for him, having been part of the Premier League-bound Wolves side beaten 4-1 here back in March.

But Villa are disrupted too. The loss of Axel Tuanzebe and Neil Taylor has meant James Bree coming in at centre-half, added to the untimely failure to sign up James Collins, who suffered a training ground injury this week just when he had signed a short-term deal.

And Leeds have not been without threat, looking like they are still capable of carving open the hosts’ defence, even without Douglas’ deliveries from the left.

For all Villa’s overall dominance, it’s still not quite over yet.

    Championship table.Image source, BBC Sport

Today's game will take us exactly to the halfway point of the season - when the final whistle blows at Villa Park this afternoon, every Championship side will have played 23 of their 46 scheduled games.

A dramatic Leeds comeback win would see them go back to the top of the table, above Norwich.

Alternatively, if Villa continue to triumph today, they will be just two points off the top six.

Whatever happens, there's certainly plenty to play for as we enter the second half of the campaign...

Andy Maudling: Been a lifelong Leeds fan (20 years) and I'm desperate to see them play Premier League football again. Think this year, we have the best squad we've had in years, despite today's display. Hope we can turn that possession into some goals in the second half.

Eyorrs: As a Villa fan I would like to win the league then stay in the Championship. Where anybody can beat anybody. Palace beating Man City is a rarity.

Dan Snelling: As a Villa fan, things are looking good this afternoon. Honestly I don't care whether we get automatic promotion, win the play-offs, or a friendly wizard switches us and Burnley without anyone noticing. As long as we're playing Premier League footie next year I'm happy.

Bit harsh on Burnley, Dan. Do you really want Sean Dyche coming after you?
