    Aston Villa 2-0 Leeds

Leeds have been caught in offside positions several times so far in this first half.

That'll be frustrating boss Marcelo Bielsa - who has cut a somewhat dejected figure at times this afternoon - because their build-up play has been decent.

CRB: The first football game I ever saw was between Leeds and Villa at the Park in 1978, and it was a draw then. I'd like both of them to go up, Leeds has been such a breeding ground for talent.

It's not impossible both could go up, is it?

  4. Chance for Leedspublished at 25 mins

    Aston Villa 2-0 Leeds

Here's Leeds' best chance so far... But Mateusz Klich places a low shot straight at the keeper from close range, after good work through the middle.

It could easily have been 2-1.

    Aston Villa 2-0 Leeds

Leeds have won five straight league games for the first time since December 2009.

But that run is coming to an end here, unless they can produce a fine comeback.

Both sides are getting plenty of bodies forward at every opportunity, so expect more goals this afternoon.

    Aston Villa 2-0 Leeds

Under pressure from Alan Hutton, Pontus Jansson heads wide from a Leeds corner.

The Villa full-back may well have been fouling Jansson there, but the referee saw nothing in it.

It's another fine goal! Jonathan Kodjia turns two defenders and squares the ball for Conor Hourihane to bend a lovely finish in to the bottom corner from outside the area.

Villa are on fire and Leeds have it all to do!

    Aston Villa 1-0 Leeds

The opposing managers have trodden somewhat differing paths to the upper reaches of the Championship but it is Villa boss Dean Smith leading the applause and Marcelo Bielsa with some work to do after the opening 15 minutes here.

There could be a lot of goals here.

Leeds are flying forward at every opportunity, and looking dangerous, while their makeshift defence looks vulnerable at the other end.

The corner finds Jonathan Kodjia himself at the back post, but he heads wide.

  13. CLOSE!published at 9 mins

    Aston Villa 1-0 Leeds

It seems that Pontus Jansson will be OK to carry on.

Moments later, Leeds could be level, as Kemar Roofe does really well down the right, but Jack Harrison is unable to turn his cross home from inside the six-yard box. Villa escape as Ahmed Elmohamady scrambles clear from virtually off the line.

  14. YELLOW CARD (Villa)published at 7 mins

    Aston Villa 1-0 Leeds

Yannick Bolasie is booked for a challenge on Leeds' Pontus Jansson, who looks hurt.

Bolasie went up for a header but caught Jansson in the ribs, with the top of his head. There was no malice in it though.
