"You're always going to look at goals you concede and there will be aspects of it you're disappointed with. He [Brooks] is a left-footed player and the last thing you want to do is to show him onto his left side and give him opportunities.

"That's the margins, on chances we probably had more efforts on target but there wasn't a lot between the opportunities we had and they had. It's about who puts them away - unfortunately, they did and we didn't.

"We were always in the game, it became difficult when we were down to 10 men with the pace Bournemouth have. But apart from the goals, we dealt with them well."

"No doubts about the second yellow, but for the first we felt it was Yves Bissouma who makes the first contact, so that was harsh on Lewis. That's our grievance - that the first yellow should have been for Bissouma rather than Dunk.

"I was really pleased with our performance, particularly in the first half,. It was tough to come in at 1-0 down but it's about making sure you take your chances. We were up against a talented team playing at home. But overall, apart from that last period [after the second goal and the red card] which was very difficult for us, we were always in the game."

Leicester City manager Claude Puel speaking to BBC Sport:

"It was fantastic, hard work from the team together, first to defend and after to try and counter attack. I think before the game we spoke about the possibility of an upset, I was happy with the performance after City, we just lost on the lottery of penalties.

"We defended well all the game, perhaps without enough quality after getting the ball in the first half.

"In second half with the confidence, we performed, scored a fantastic goal with Maddison and Vardy. Of course a fantastic reward for the team because we gave our best this time with the reward.

"Vardy gave the right response and he contributed, he defended well with the team in the first half. He showed a fantastic clinical edge. We need players like him scoring. A lot of games we have had good play without the reward because we cannot score more. Of course it is a fantastic feeling today, hopefully we continue this way.

"The win doesn’t change anything, it is important we go away to analyse our game. That we continue to work with the same mentality and same attitude. All my players continue to progress and work together."

Robert Gallagher: "It was impossible from the beginning of the season." Imagine being a Chelsea player reading this from your manager about your title chances (a team that's won the league two of last four years). Doesn't really inspire much confidence does it?!

Bournemouth

"We were a lot better in the second half, even before the [second] goal and the sending-off we had control of the game. We were indebted to our goalkeeper in the first half so we were pleased to come through the game.

"The recent run we've been on has been tough, at 1-0 the game's still in the balance but we stood firm. Hopefully that sets us up nicely for the Christmas period as we've got two matches now [against Tottenham & Man Utd] where we can really attack."

Fulham

Fulham manager Claudio Ranieri told Match of the Day: "It is very important for us. First half maybe we created more play and had possession well, but they had a very big chance.

"Second half we lost control and they were dangerous, but we had four or five chances on the counter-attack, so at the end I'm happy because every point we achieve is good.

"It's the first time I've tried to play with three centre-backs and the players responded well. They were very solid against a physical team.

"We have to continue to fight and sooner or later we'll change the way."

Bournemouth

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe:

"Two great goals from David [Brooks], both totally different but he showed his quality in both moments. We've been pleasantly surprised [by him] - we knew we were getting a very technical and intelligent player, but he really buys into the team ethic and has a tactical understanding of how the team plays, and an ability to handle the Premier League and not get carried away with his early season success.

"We liked him a lot from watching him at Sheffield United, he had glandular fever at the end of last season and that was probably the reason we were able to sign him as if he'd stayed fit and kept playing he might have gone beyond us [to a bigger club]."

Newcastle United

Newcastle manager Rafael Benitez told Match of the Day: "During the game I was not happy with some situations and decisions. The worst thing is that, in a game we could win, where we were pushing and had control, we could have lost it in the last counter-attack.

"Sometimes it can be tense at home, when they say you have to win the game, but Fulham spent a lot of money in the summer. They are bottom but have a good team. They are organised, they had five at the back and were dangerous on the counter-attack.

"It's good that didn't lose but the negative is that we gave Fulham those situations to score and were a bit lucky in the end.

"You have to find the balance if you want to win. Sometimes you're attacking but make a wrong decision and leave yourself exposed.

"We did it (had the balance) for a while but didn't in the last minute. It's disappointing because we were expected to get the three points, but now we've taken four points from two games. It's not ideal but we are getting points."

Chelsea

Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri speaking to BBC Sport:

"The match changed after the goal. We played well for 55 minutes, after the goal the reaction was not the right reaction. We reacted a little shocked and with mental confusion. We had to only keep playing like we did before the goal, there was time to recover.

"I think that of course in some situations we were unlucky but I think that we could have done something better."

Losing to ‘smaller’ sides concerning?: "Yes it concerns me, we have to understand the reason for it. You can go 1-0 down, the important thing is how you are able to react. There was the time to score two goals today."

Impossible to catch leaders Liverpool?: "It was impossible from the beginning of the season. As I said at the beginning of the Premier League it is impossible to catch Liverpool and Manchester City, we have to be careful to stay close to the first four positions."

Manchester City

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is not disappointed at his team's effort despite suffering a surprise home defeat to Crystal Palace.

He tells BBC Sport: "We started quite decent and created chances. We scored a fantastic goal and after they passed the halfway line they scored.

"The third goal...we cannot concede the penalty we conceded. We have to try and avoid it. Football is like this. Three shots on goal and three goals.

"It's complicated but we fight until the last second. We are in December and we will try and recover and try and win games again."

Speaking to Sky Sports, Guardiola adds: "The first two times Crystal Palace crossed our halfway line they scored. We played good. Their second goal was an incredible goal.

"There are a lot of games to play. We have to recover mentally and recover our physicality."

Palace winger Andros Townsend: "It sat up perfectly for me, I knew I couldn't take a touch as City would have been on me and on the counter - and as soon as it left my foot I knew it had a good chance.

"It's definitely the best goal of my career, against the best side I've ever played."

West Ham United

West Ham manager Manuel Pellegrini speaking to BBC Match of the Day:

"We deserved a little bit more, I think, at least to draw the game. Going a goal behind made it more difficult in that we were playing under pressure. We had three or four clear chances to at least draw the game.

"Last game we scored from most of our chances, today we couldn’t. The penalty gave Watford that impetus. Before the goal we had three very dangerous opportunities. We dominated the game.

"Once they scored they were calm while we were more nervous. If you asked me when we started the season, after losing the first four games I would be very happy with the points we have now."
