Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson to MOTD: "You don't produce that sort of performance by waving a magic wand or having a five-minute team talk, there's a lot of work that goes into that structure and we were excellent. We are playing against a team with enormous skill levels and their focus, their ability to sustain attacks, is an example to us all.

"I was really pleased with the way the lads worked hard for us. All the credit needs to go to the players. We scored three good goals.

"Andros Townsend's goal was magnificent, a wonderful strike on goal. He had a good performance, he is very happy with himself and as it came to him I thought 'that's not a bad body shape.'

"I wouldn't say I thought he was going to score but he gave himself a chance. It will be a contender for goal of the week, if not goal of the year.

"It was Bill Shankly who said it's a marathon, not a sprint. If the league was the Tour de France we have won a stage today, but we have a long way to go."

Watford

Watford manager Javi Gracia speaking to BBC Match of the Day:

"It’s always important to win. They had won the last four but we kept the same level we did in the last performance to get another win.

"Playing away here you always have to be ready to defend but I was never afraid (of the outcome). It’s true they had many chances but we also created many clear chances. You have to suffer a lot but at the end of the game we got the result we deserved. It was an open game but we deserved the victory.

"We have a lot of games so we don’t have time to speak about our position. We are improving. We started playing well with four wins, after that we have competed well with good and bad results.

"The keeper [Ben Foster] always has a good performance and he gives confidence to the rest of the team but Lukasz Fabianski also made two very good saves for them."

Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson, speaking to Sky Sports, says his side have won three 'bonus' points: "It was a very concentrated, focused and discliplined performance.

"We knew this was going to be tough. The important thing was we stood up to Manchester City really well. It was a very good day's work and three fantastic points.

"We rode our luck but I must say over the 96 minutes the players deserved it and can feel proud of themselves."

Fulham

Fulham defender Alfie Mawson said: "It's a relief. I said it a couple of weeks ago when we won against Southampton - that we need to start getting clean sheets and three points.

"We were very resilient, especially in the second half. We've been working hard defensively all week and now we can build on that. Hopefully it's the start of something good. It shows we can get clean sheets and we could have won it at the end.

"We haven't been good enough but since the gaffer's come in we've been improving. It was a joy to be out there with the lads today - fighting for each other and encouraging each other - and the clean sheet's massive for us."

Newcastle United

Newcastle midfielder Ki Sung-yueng: "It's a bit frustrating. We were better in the second half, we were in control, but we couldn't score.

"It's disappointing but we didn't lose so we'll take a point after winning last week against Huddersfield.

"Fulham played with five at the back, which surprised me. Maybe they came to get a point. But when teams come here and are playing deep and defending well, we have to learn how to create more chances."

Manchester City

Manchester City captain Fabian Delph: "Obviously the result is a setback. We have lost but we are only looking at ourselves game to game.

"We had a few chances which we have put away in the past, but fair play to Crystal Palace - they were stubborn and organised.

"It's hard to analyse and we will go back to the drawing board and look at it. We started slowly and the ball wasn't zipping about."

Watford

Watford goalkeeper Ben Foster speaking to BBC Match of the Day:

"It was a really nice win. We had a little bit of luck on the way but we’ll take that and it builds on last week. The back four, a back six at times really stood their ground. It's West Ham, you know you're going to be busy here as a goalkeeper, it’s a tough place to come.

"The front four though as well when they start getting those intricate passing going they are difficult to deal with.

"We didn’t just want to rest on our laurels. Now we’ve got Chelsea on Boxin Day and we’ll take it from there."

Leicester City

Leicester City defender Ben Chilwell:

"This is 100% our best result of the season. We’ve played well against big teams but not got over the line or even got a point.

"Today in the first half we were good, though we could have improved. We pressed them, defended well and created chances. The boys up front were brilliant and squeezed them, put them under the cosh.

"Before the goal we worked hard, knew we could catch them on the counter, a brilliant ball by James Maddison to slip through Jamie Vardy and one-on-one we can rely on him to score.

"The result builds confidence. We know we have a brilliant squad, we know how good we are. We put in work on the training ground and it showed. Happy with the result, we need to build on that and keep putting in results."

Dion Dublin
Ex-Manchester United striker on Football Focus

Dion Dublin was at Manchester United's training ground this week to interview captain Ashley Young...

"The atmosphere there has changed completely. I've been there before to speak to Romelu Lukaku and other players, and everybody just seems to have gone... *lets out a sigh*

"Ole Gunnar Solskjaer turns up and takes a box of chocolates to the receptionist, Kath, who's worked there for 50 years. I just think that knowing him, and him knowing the club, everybody's gone 'wow, Ole's back' and they've just relaxed."

"But when we score three goals we can say we deserved it."

On Andros Townend's sublime goal: "It's one of the best goals I have seen in my career. He scored one amazing goal against Burnley. He has that - his goal was amazing."
