That was a vital block by Fabinho. Great cutback for Gross, that could have been a goal, but it was a very important block.

  3. CLOSE!published at 16:15 Greenwich Mean Time 12 January 2019

    Brighton 0-1 Liverpool

Brighton are the ones taking it to Liverpool at the moment. It's fired in from the right under Andy Robertson's legs and falls kindly for Pascal Gross in the middle of the box. His shot is well blocked by Fabinho and Glenn Murray is caught offside when Brighton hook it back into the back post.

I would smell blood. Liverpool have come off two defeats, take the game to them, Brighton have given them too much respect and Liverpool have capitalised on it.

James Maddison's heel is trodden on by Dale Stephens and the referee shows him a yellow card for an accumulation of fouls. The resulting free-kick is in a nice position just outside the box but Maddison slams it into the wall and skews the rebound over the bar.

Tom West: As a Leicester fan I always dread us playing against a struggling striker. I think we were the only team Benteke scored against last season, and now Long today. Does your striker need a goal? Come and play Leicester! Fearing a Vincent Janssen hat-trick in Feb

Nick Gunshon: Have to agree with James Aubrey (15:58). We were all crowing about winning the league in December. How could we be so naive? Liverpool always blow it and the writing is on the wall with performances like today

Ewan Clark: If that was Harry Kane that went down like that people would say he dived

  9. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 16:12 Greenwich Mean Time 12 January 2019

    Burnley 2-1 Fulham

Should Fulham have had a penalty?

Charlie Taylor lost his footing as he went in for a challenge and he definitely got a bit of the man as he slid through...

  10. Postpublished at 16:11 Greenwich Mean Time 12 January 2019

Liverpool have got a spring in their step now. Whatever Jurgen Klopp said at half-time has worked. They are playing with more intensity, movement and creativity.

    Burnley 2-1 Fulham

Fulham are so close! Substitute Luciano Vietto picks up the pieces from a cross, drills in his low shot and it's heading in until James Tarkowski makes a miraculous goal-line clearance. Somehow kicked it off the line with the keeper beaten...

    Chance! Good save!

Wilfried Zaha gets clear of the Watford defence, you're just waiting for the net to bulge but Ben Foster saves brilliantly with his feet.

How good is Foster? I rate him very highly.

It's poor defending by Gross there, he has let Mo Salah turn too easily. You force him back or force him outside you don't let him turn and face you. He knew he had put his team in trouble and gave away the penalty.

Great penalty by Salah, a bit Alan Shearer-esque - he gave the goalkeeper no chance.

  16. CLOSE!published at 16:07 Greenwich Mean Time 12 January 2019
