    FT: Brighton 1-3 Burnley

    So that's that.

Burnley's stint in the Premier League drop zone lasted a mere two-and-a-half hours as this convincing win moved them up to 15th.

Brighton though are feeling the icy breath of other relegation contenders on the back of their neck as one win in 11 games leaves them well and truly in the scrap to stay up.

You can check out all of today's action on the football page of the BBC Sport website.

From the Amex Stadium, good night.

Finally from Sean Dyche with Match of the Day: "People have been talking about Tom Heaton but not much has been made of Dwight McNeil, a 19-year-old who's enjoying himself in the Premier League and got himself another assist today.

"There aren't that many young lads his age who could be new to the Premier League and performing at his level."

  3. 'We make it difficult for teams'published at 20:10 Greenwich Mean Time 9 February 2019

    Burnley

Burnley manager Sean Dyche speaking to Match of the Day: On goalkeeper Tom Heaton: I know what a good keeper he is and his alertness made sure we were in good shape. He made saves I'd expect him to save because I know his quality.

On goalscorers Chris Wood and Ashley Barnes: We've been brave to play two centre forwards away from home. I think we've got excellent centre forwards and their energy and pride is really helping us. They're scoring goals and we're making it difficult for the teams we're playing against. When you have a front to your team the game has a different feel to it.

On Jeff Hendrick's 'handball': We've just had three away games where big decisions have gone against us. If we got a decision going for us today, I know it evens itself out over the season so I don't make a big deal out of it.

Graham Pearce: The officials need to be sanctioned. 2 clear pens, a Burnley player faking a head injury. Come on get a grip FA you are employing officials that are simply not good enough.

Dave Payn: Maybe Sean Dyche will shut up about penalty decisions now.

Chris Hughton: "The gap below us has always been more important. Others have been getting carried away but we have to be conscious of how difficult this league is. As quickly as you can win three games and move up the table, you can lose them just as quickly.

"We've got games coming up against teams not in the top six but it seems every period coming up is a pivotal period. We've just got to dust ourselves down and get points from the next game."

  7. 'Blatant penalty'published at 20:02 Greenwich Mean Time 9 February 2019

    FT: Brighton 1-3 Burnley

    Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton boss Chris Hughton speaking to Match of the Day: "We were up against a Burnley team that play a particular way and are in good form at the moment.

"They also had a keeper who pulled off three very good saves.

"Those pivotal moments in front of goal, you have to take those chances and we haven't been able to do that in the last couple of games.

"But we should have had a blatant penalty at 2-0 and Burnley go up the other end and score. The referee or linesman has got to see that.

"But we've got to be more clinical in the final third, We put in as many crosses as we have done all season but at the moment it's not going for us."

Tony Husband: Game full of incident at the Amex, Brighton denied a blatant penalty moments before Burnley convert their second pen in a week. How decisions can change games and influence seasons. Albion and Burnley now level on points on a big day in the league’s bottom third.

Martin Cook: Hands up we got a big slice of luck with the Hendrick decision it was definitely a pen. However, we've been on the receiving end of many of those this season. Nice to have something going our way but harsh on them...a much-needed 3 points!

  9. 'Excellent performance'published at 19:47 Greenwich Mean Time 9 February 2019

    FT: Brighton 1-3 Burnley

    Burnley

Burnley boss Sean Dyche on BT Sport: "It was a good performance in a different way.

"I know they're on a bad run but they did well last week and we knew it was going to be tough.

"I thought our two centre-forwards were excellent today. We got better and better as the first half went on.

"We've had four out of six away games and have come away with eight points which is a good tally in the Premier League."

Burnley striker Chris Wood to Match of the Day: "It was a good performance, it's always tough coming here and we showed we can fight and grind it out. It's a big win at this stage of the season.

On partnership with Ashley Barnes: "Me and Barnesy get on well. We played at Brighton together and won League One, with Glenn Murray as well, and that's where the relationship started. It was good to put that together again at Burnley. We have a good bond and it's good to play up front together."

On Jeff Hendrick 'handball': "I didn't really see it because I was up at the other end but yeah, it's bounced up and hit Jeff. We just have to carry on and you ride your luck sometimes, but it was only our second penalty in about 70 games."

  11. Clinical finishingpublished at 19:43 Greenwich Mean Time 9 February 2019

    FT: Brighton 1-3 Burnley

Brighton had more shots (16) than Burnley (9) and more shots on target (6-5) than their visitors.

However, the clinical strikers of Burnley alongside the fabulous goalkeeping of Tom Heaton ensured they'll make the long journey back to Lancashire with the three points in their grasp.

Burnley goalkeeper Tom Heaton on BT Sport: "It's a massive win. We knew it was going to be tough tonight and they came out of the blocks but we handled them well and it's a big three points.

"As a team we did really well defensively with blocks and headers, so we'll go back and look at it and then go again against Tottenham in a couple of weeks."

On the penalty decisions: "In fairness it did hit Jeff's hand - I don't think he meant it - but it's difficult for the ref. Sometimes they go for you and sometimes they go against you - luckily today it went with us.

On his form: "I'm certainly enjoying it at the moment - it's frustrating to be out injured - so I'll keep working hard and hopefully I can keep going well."
