    According to some reports, Vards was judged to have been a tad unhappy that his chief went to talk to Manchester United's Paul Pogba after the 1-0 defeat last weekend.

    Puel said: "I have a good relationship with him. We know Jamie - after he lost he is angry, it's normal for a player.

    "If I thought one of my players was disrespectful to me or the club there would be a sanction but that was not the case."

    The pair will no doubt embrace at the end of this match - win, lose or draw.

    Here's the maths... Manchester City and Tottenham have to carry on winning until they run out of matches to win.

    Winning is everything now for these teams, by hook or by crook to keep up with leaders Liverpool.

    The Reds cast aside that wee hiccup against West Ham by cruising past Bournemouth on Saturday to retake the top spot from Pep Guardiola's men.

    City can leapfrog Jurgen Klopp's side again on goal difference with victory over Chelsea.

    And Tottenham, like a puppy clutching on to the trouser legs, can stay in touch within five points of Liverpool with a win over Leicester.

    Will either City or Spurs blink again?
