Blackburn manager Tony Mowbray speaking to BT Sport:

"We got a bit of illness we had a player leave our hotel on Saturday morning to get away from the group. We have a few sat on the bench who aren’t feeling great - Bradley [Dack] for example would probably be in our first 11.

"The big issue is in centre defence, [Charlie] Mulgrew, [Jack] Rodwell, [Paul] and Downing are all out and we’ve got a few academy kids on the bench but we’ll give our best shot tonight.

"Particularly at home we have great belief. It’s just a good challenge for us tonight, a good test against Premier League opposition who have made changes but still have players that can hurt you. Let’s go and play on the front foot and attack and see how we go on."

    Blackburn v Newcastle (19:45 GMT)

    Rafael BenitezImage source, Getty Images

Rafa was criticised by some Newcastle fans for his team selection in the FA Cup, after he rested a number of first-team players.

Ahead tonight's fixture he defended that decision and said will struggle to "have a go" in this season's Cup because of their position in the Premier League.

The Magpies dropped into the Premier League relegation zone last weekend.

"Who has a chance, a realistic chance? Teams in the middle of the table because they can have a go because they are safe," Benitez said.

"The other teams, you have to manage it really carefully."

Fellow Premier League strugglers Huddersfield, Cardiff and Fulham went out in the FA Cup in the third round to lower-league opposition, while Southampton were taken to a replay by Derby.

"Why you see these teams and they were out? Because the Premier League is massive," Benitez said.

"You have £130m guaranteed if you are there. So everyone is trying to manage the situation. You have to be realistic."
