There's a real diversity in the Pittodrie playlist tonight.

I hope "That Don't Impress Me Much" isn't prophetic.

Anyway "Get Ready For This"...a few minutes before kick-off now.

  2. Dons' McInnes sets points targetpublished at 19:41 Greenwich Mean Time 18 December 2018

    Aberdeen v Dundee (19:45)

Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes is hoping Sam Cosgrove and Stevie May can form a good striking partnership having scored at the weekend.

"It is too early to say with any certainty, but there are early signs," he tells BBC Scotland.

"They are two boys who always contribute positively, but for strikers goals are everything and it will be a better feeling for them."

McInnes recognises the danger of a team that have only lost once in five games but is concentrating on his own side's points total.

"We just want to win the game and we want to come out of these two games on 36 points," he says.

"That's the target we set and it is usually where we are at this time."

  7. Miller goal discovery key for Dundeepublished at 19:27 Greenwich Mean Time 18 December 2018

    Aberdeen v Dundee (19:45)

Replacing Neil McCann with Jim McIntyre didn't seem to be working initially as Dundee lost four in a row under the new manager.

However, Saturday's 3-1 defeat away to Premiership leaders Kilmarnock ended a run of four games without defeat that have lifted the Dark Blues off the bottom, albeit by goal difference over St Mirren.

Kenny Miller has been central to those shoots of recovery.

The 38-year-old former Scotland striker has scored in each of his last five appearances - seven in total - for Dundee.

  8. Stat attackpublished at 19:25 Greenwich Mean Time 18 December 2018

    Aberdeen v Dundee (19:45)

The statistics mount up against the possibility of a Dundee win.

    • Aberdeen have won 10 games in a row against Dundee and are unbeaten in 13 meetings since a Scottish Cup loss in November 2014.
    • Dundee have lost on their last five visits to Pittodrie and have not won in 11 games there since a 2-1 win in May 2004.
    • The Dee have scored six goals in those 11 visits to Pittodrie without a win.
    • Aberdeen are unbeaten in their past 19 top-flight games against Dundee, winning 14, since a 1-0 defeat in December 2004.
    • Aberdeen have won five, and lost one, of their past six league games at the Pittodrie Stadium, including three clean sheets.
    • Dundee have only won two of their 17 Scottish Premiership games this season - equal worst with St Mirren.
  9. Ralph and Spence start for Dundeepublished at 19:22 Greenwich Mean Time 18 December 2018

    Aberdeen v Dundee (19:45)

Dundee manager Jim McIntyre makes two changes from the side that lost to Kilmarnock.

Nathan Ralph comes back into defence after suspension, while Lewis Spence starts in midfield

Andy Boyle and Glen Kamara drop to the bench.

It means that Paul McGowan has recovered from the illness that forced the influential midfielder to be substituted at Rugby Park.

  10. McInnes sticks with winning sidepublished at 19:20 Greenwich Mean Time 18 December 2018

    Aberdeen v Dundee (19:45)

Perhaps not surprisingly, Aberdeen boss Derek McInnes sticks with the starting line-up that beat St Mirren on Saturday after two consecutive wins.

Stevie May ended a 14-game wait for his second goal of the season, albeit from the penalty spot.

Sam Cosgrove grabbed the winner with his second in a row.

Maybe McInnes has, at long last, found himself that strike partnership for which he has been seeking.

  11. Derby feel at Pittodriepublished at 19:16 Greenwich Mean Time 18 December 2018

    Aberdeen v Dundee (19:45)

    Tyrone Smith
    BBC Scotland at Pittodrie

There is always a bit of a derby feel to Aberdeen-Dundee matches.

Tonight’s encounter has two teams at opposite ends of the Premiership going head to head and both looking for the points but for very different reasons.

After back-to-back victories, Aberdeen are targeting three wins on the spin. If they do that, the Dons will move to within one point of leaders Rangers.

If Dundee can manage something they haven’t done since May 2004 - win at Pittodrie - they’ll find themselves just a point behind third bottom Hamilton.

But a defeat in the Granite City could send the Dark Blues back to the foot of the table.

    Aberdeen v Dundee (19:45)

Here's a reminder of how Aberdeen beat St Mirren 2-1 in Paisley on Saturday, which means they are tonight seeking a third consecutive victory.

  15. League forming early splitpublished at 19:02 Greenwich Mean Time 18 December 2018

    Aberdeen v Dundee (kick-off 19:45 GMT)

The highly-competitive nature of this season's Premiership - and the inconsistency of most teams - is exemplified by the fact that only eight points separate the top eight teams.

A league split is developing even before the traditional one after 33 games, with Dundee and St Mirren, and to a lesser extent Hamilton, becoming slightly isolated at the bottom and with Motherwell in a bit of a no-man's-land.

Even a win for Dundee tonight at Pittodrie will still leave Jim McIntyre's side a point behind Accies.

The festive season is in full swing and that means football fixtures come thick and fast.

Tonight's Scottish Premiership action comes from Pittodrie, where struggling Dundee are Aberdeen's visitors.

The Dons can move level on points with third-placed Celtic should they secure a win.
